General Question Need a step-by-step instruction setup for VC2022 ...

As @DaveS said, OpenOrbiter is available pre-compiled. You will need the textures from Orbiter 2016, so download and extract Orbiter 2016, then extract OpenOrbiter into the same folder. Then you should be good to go.

General Question Need a step-by-step instruction setup for VC2022 ...

I can't help with setting up VC2022 for compiling addon modules, but I wanted to point out that it is also now possible to make vessel and MFD addons using Lua scripting, no compiling needed. This is a relatively new development and documentation is catching up with the new capabilities. Not all...

Flight Question On gravity turns and other ascent / descent profiles

A gravity turn on ascent is really necessary for a vertically launched rocket going through an atmosphere. Thrusting against gravity doesn't put you into orbit, but it is a necessary evil to get the vehicle up out of the dense atmosphere before aerodynamic drag loads get too high. Determining an...

    Orbiter 2024 Launch readiness

This progress on the documentation is excellent. It may already exist, but is there a centralized place where community members can report any issues with documentation, through GitHub or elsewhere? Some guidance on the opening pages of the actual documentation that points the user to where to...

Updates Artemis Program Updates & Discussions

What concerns me is that they are struggling with a technical capability that was sorted out during Apollo just to fly a modern mission replicating Apollo 8, even with all our modern engineering technology. Knowledge has been lost or ignored. And the mission architecture envisioned for a human...

They flew over a dozen missions on the Saturn IB and two of the full Saturn V stack before flying crews, testing nearly all the systems under flight conditions. That 10X...

Updates Artemis Program Updates & Discussions

They need to understand what happened to this heat shield before they can design another. They currently don't. They also have hardware-related random power problems due to the radiation environment which basically forces them to reset the panel breakers every time it happens. They don't have a...

Project Autopilot ScriptMFD by Thunder Chicken

So as I see it, if I want to render a particular MFD page on a particular vessel for a particular instance (mode?), I need to define something like this: page(hvessel, hmode) = i where i is the page number for that particular vessel and mode instance. hvessel would have to be a unique...

Question Creating new vessel using Lua?

You can now make complete vessel Lua addons, no need to do anything hacky with a Lua MFD script. You will need to use Open Orbiter because a lot of Lua capabilities have been added that are not available in Orbiter 2016. A lot of the Lua capabilities are documented under the Help button on the...
