Puts the Fun in Dysfunctional
Background File Processing
Improved handling of submitted files

Similar to how Youtube process videos in the background after submission, file operations should be performed upon uploaded addons in the background, after the upload is complete, and shouldn't require the user to remain connected to the transaction.

The process itself is similar to the old OHM one, but reworked to take into account more recent structural system changes:
  • Uploaded file is analysed and sandboxed
  • Sandboxed file is scanned for malware
  • Archive contents are listed and stored for view with the addon
  • Archive checksums calculated and recorded
  • Addon file is transferred to OHM storage (Orbiter Radio mirror, currently)

Didn't know files were being scanned for malware, but that's excellent to know. Maybe the same process could also run a DEPENDS on each EXE and DLL, looking for dependencies and auto-flagging the downloads appropriately.

We aren't currently, at least, not when the file is submitted. The servers all run a storage-wide malware scan on a scheduled basis, but I feel it can be a bit more reactive than that; plus, programmatically, if we scan infected software at submit-time, we can protect users by preventing that addon being presented for download.

Both servers are Linux based, I'm not sure how DEPENDS works as you described. Is this a Windowsy thing?
