Infinite "Connecting..." status throughout the forum

I made this a Question rather than a Bug since I'm not sure if this is entirely on my end or not. For a long time now (more than 6 months) I have been experiencing that my browser (Google Chrome, but I have tried the Mozilla-based browsers and they suffer from it as well) stays in the "Connecting..." phase for an indefinite amount of time, the page never really finishes loading.

On the front page this essentially makes the page jump to very bottom every time the Chatbox refreshes. This doesn't happen if the Chatbox is hidden but the status stays in the "Connecting..." phase.

Considering how long I have been experiencing this and no-one has reported anything like it, I'm entirely open to the fact that it might be something specific to my setup/configuration.

Can you define the "Connecting phase" a little more clearly for me? What are you referring to here, something noted in dev tools?

The "Connecting..." I'm talking about is the status at the bottom of the browser.

Here's a screenshot, with the status highlighted by a red box:

Hi,
I've experienced similar issues and by looking at the network panel (F-12) I could see that
the client (the Browser) is waiting for:
- activate.tapatalk.com and
- mystatus.skype.com
These domains do not seem to be very "low latency".
Because I am not interested in the current skype-status of any forum-user I just added tose two to the filter rules of AdBlockPlus[1] and everything is just fine

I did the same and the problem is now gone. So it seems like those two are what's causing this "hang-up".
