Auto Refresh the "Top 8 Stats" window
Auto Refresh the "Top 8 Stats" window

On the main page www.orbiter-forum.com I would like to see a Auto refresh on the "Top 8 Stats" window as well, just like the chat window auto-refreshes. This would allow us to see in real-time "New releases from orbiter hanger" , "latest blog entry's" , and " Latest posts"
You guys are really doing a great job on the website.I almost felt guilty asking for another feature. But thanks for all you guys do. Orbiter wouldn't have the following it does without a great site like this.
Thank You!

Thanks for the kind words

I'll look in to the auto-refresh. TBH, the interval between refreshes would be quite long because the mean interval between posts/blogs/addons etc is approximately 5 min.

I don't know what browser you are using, but you can use something like this to refresh the whole index page: https://chrome.google.com/extensions...pbgndfojhdhmjo. Something similar is available for Firefox too IIRC.

I use Tab Mix Plus in Firefox to automatically refresh pages, but if I remember correctly, there should be too an option for Cyb Stats to refresh them automatically by AJAX / JavaScript (in admincp - I can't check it at the moment on my friend's forum), like you'd hit "Reload" button on the top right side of the stats (minimum time between allowed reloads is currently set to 30 seconds, and I think there is either a checkbox or a field where you enter time for automatic reloads). Only stats would be refreshed this way.

Thanks orb, indeed there is. You saved me some digging.

I've set it to a 2 minute refresh. We should keep an eye on the server load but, as you say, just updating the stats by AJAX will be less load than reloading the whole index page.

We had to disable the chat box by default on the old server partly because of auto-refresh, so we need to keep an eye on the load this produces even though we are on a faster server now.

Excellent. The extension works perfectly and installed with little effort at all. No need IMO to load the server.I can do it on my end. Thanks for your help

Reloading the whole page makes more load to the server than only a part of page, which are stats, and this feature is already implemented (I can confirm it's working great), so you don't have to refresh the main page any longer.

Check it yourself - there's displayed below stats: "Auto-refresh interval: 120s", that is indicating they're being reloaded automatically.
