Hi,
I have just got a new laptop which has got switchable graphics (2 graphics cards: low power mobile intel HD for basic use, and a more powerful radeon HD 6490M for 3d applications). My problem is that when I get to the orbiter launchpad, my radeon card does not show up under 3d devices in video settings. Therefore, as the intel card does not support T&L, I cannot get local light sources, and I am not using the full power of my laptop. Under my configuration for the switchable graphics, orbiter.exe is shown as high performance, rather than power saving, therefore the radeon card should be switched on when the program starts. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks |

I think there's an option to "Always ennumerate devices" or something that double checks - but I could be wrong...
to the forum by the way!

Thanks for answering Spacethingy.
Unfortunately this does not fix my problem, as I already had this checked. |

Is it a laptop with optimus technology. What model ?
Never mind. You have a radeon. Last edited by dumbo2007; 06-17-2012 at 08:13 PM. |

Just for fun, un-tick it. exit orbiter. Restert orbiter, and tick the box again.. If not, then you'll need to look at the drivers for options, perhaps force the radeon graphics on or something like that. |

If it is somewhat similar to how nvidia optimus works, the card to use might be defined in the application profile in the driver's control center. You might need to create a profile for Orbiter, since only relatively famous games have profiles for them by default.
