Default [In finalisation]Solar modules P3/P4/P5/P6 from ISS
by Mustard 05-02-2008, 05:54 PM

I continue my work about the update of my old addons. Now I start Solaris, my solar module.

Here the old release (2006) (not nice, isn't it ?):

For this new version, I want to build a very similar solar module of ISS. Not exactly the same, but very similar. The real module P3/P4 are very complex and detailed, and i have lot of problem to find good pics, even of the websites of Nasa.
Of course i must keep a compatibilité with the Trusses of Nebulus.

In first i do P3 (with SARJ), then after P4 (solar array and radiator), then P5 interco with P6 (P6 same that P4). P or S it's same.

Now I work on P3, it's not finish but here you can see the work in progress:

Here the real pic of P3/P4:

Yay, great news!
A good Iss-like solar module is exactly what was lacking.
Will they track the sun?

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! This is AWESOME! I've been wanting a detailed solar truss module for some time, but had to settle for my own home-built boxy thing when building my station. THANK YOU SO MUCH MUSTARD!!!

It's a great motivation to read this great enthusiasm

so, it's seems that the SARJ is protect by isolation, so we don't see the wheel.

BEEEAAAUUUTTTIIIFFFUUULLLL!!!!! I tried to make my own p3/p4 like Zatnikitelman, but I stopped on animation in Spacecraft3, because panels didn't rotate correctly. Great work Mustard!!! You must finish it

Hello Mustard,

I have used your Solaris addon on a lot of my stations (often together with other Well/No Matter modules), and this new version looks promising!

Here are some more images of S3/4 and the solar panels, but maybe you already have them:

But I have noticed something on the current Solaris addon: the mesh clipping, even when you don't zoom in too close, the mesh appears to clip. Do you think it would be possible to fix this problem too?

regards,
mcduck

this is not so hard for me to change module's name. So I see the Solaris is a good name!

PS I will just use a prefix - something like Mir2_Solaris...

In fact you can use the same name for your addon, but the most important is to don't use the same name for cfg, mesh, ini files to avoid overwriting of my old addon.

Very, very nice! Can't wait to load an orbiter with that one! Keep up the great work and take your time! It will sure be worth the development time once it has been released!
