After months of work, the new DLL based version of the Antares Manned Rocket (
, the old version) is at its final development steps. This is one of the most complex and complete add on ever made for Orbiter, surely one for the books for 2011.
This is a totally a r ealistic vessel, based on current space technology (even if it doesn't exist in real world) and it's avaiable in 3 version: Antares SR for Low Earth Orbit Missions (ISS) Antares LR for Beyond Earth Orbit missions (Moon and Mars) Antares RV for Rescue versio n It's an Apollo and Orion style vessel, with a Service module for space travel and a service module/capsule for Earth reentry. The launcher is supposed to be the Jarvis HLV, another totally realistic rocket which is already avaiable on Orbit hangar ( ). It will be upgraded to a new version before Antares 2.0 relase. The greatest issue for this new Antares version will be a total dynamic and working virtual cockpit, with a lot of funcionts and some cool features (like the GET and date display, a reentry angle calculator and het shield temperature indicators) Here are some images: Time display and indicators.. working alarm panel.. Full VC wiev.. capsule disintegration caused by high reentry temperature.. reentry interface.. splashdown.. ready for touchdown: SOON MORE IMAGES! Antares SR in orbit.. Antares LR seconds after Jarvis' second stage jettison.. Jarvis B with Antares LR on top at Cape Canaveral, Pad J A. T - 60 seconds.. UMMU fully compatible! Looking great, I can't wait. You guys at Orbiter Forum Italia make some of the (arguably) best add-ons for Orbiter.

Very nice! I'm really looking forward to this. Using the earlier Antares, I managed my first every manual rendez-vous and docking with the ISS and I have been a big fan ever since.

Looking forward to it guys! I never tried the first one, but I will give this one a shot for sure! Quick question, though. Will this have a full 2d panel, or is it a VC only?

Will there be a booster stage for LR version? It's quite obvious 2406 m/s isn't enough to reach the Moon. I've used Kulch's Smerch for that purpose already, just want to know if there will be original booster.
And what about moon-landing and launching capability? Or will it be for lunar fly-bys only? |

this looks like it could be the NASSP of modern day! will it be easy to fly? (in terms of learning curve, i cant get my head around NASSP)
cant wait to get that bad boy to the moon! is there a module for planetary landing? (like the LEM of the Apollo craft) and if so, will your average orbiter user be able to pilot it to the moon thanks -=Grover=- |
