This already is a thread about sex. But please, don't listen to those people. Most of them are terribly wrong. Listen to me. Get adult and meet a lady with whom you will share a mutual love. Engage her in a rightful marriage and live long and happy thereafter. It is really this simple.

i posted that before the this was made into its own thread (A.K.A mars500 thread)

the problem with "sexuality" is that everyone thinks they have the "moral" high ground...
The truth is that it is a fluid matter, and what offends one might be stimulating to another...
If you think sex is a problem in space then don't go.
I am under the impression that nasa just does not touch it... no questions asked and no "official" position.

Afghanistan? WTF!?!
I doubt most astronauts would want to undergo sterilization for a trip to Mars, and I doubt that a space agency would consider the risk of a space baby to be a risk worth taking. For that reason, I doubt that any space agency will official sanction sexual activity among its crew.

I donno. Send a bunch of married (or not) couples on the mission with the women either already pregnant, or gotten that way during the flight. Very cheap way to increase the crew size by 50% without needing more ship space (will need more laundry facilities and more space in cold stores for pickles and ice cream).
The first "kibbutz" on Mars!

Well, except that the new crew members won't be able to contribute in any useful fashion for at least 6 years, and more likely 10-15 years.

Not a bad idea for an intersteller mission, but not really feasible for a "short" mars mission, since you actually reduce the available crew for a few years until the new crew member becomes self-sustaining. :p

Well, I'm male and nearly 30 years old. But I'm often told to look like about 23, and not like a single at all. In other words: my appearance contradicts my lifestyle, which still totally amazes my parents and friends. The thing is that I'm not really that much interested in sex like some people obviously are. And since I still did not meet a girl yet which blew me away, I don't really need "at least" sex just to be happy. I also don't feel like my days become numbered because I don't have it yet. And there are many people who still live that way around the 30 mark.

I am married now, but I was not married for many years. I believe my mission in life must be something superior than just living to live like a lizard or a dinosaur. If I had thought sex was so important I would not had devoted those entire months to make stuff for Orbiter.

Even if you are married, sex is not the main drive of love, love is the drive. And when you are married there is time for house keeping, going to work, thinking about budget and projects, and later to take care of kids. So for those who think that getting married is eternal sex, they are absolutely mistaken.

I personally like a quote by Jeff Foxworthy:

"Getting married to have sex is like buying a 747 to get free peanuts."

Ironically, whenever I fly on a plane these days, all I get is free pretzels. D'oh!

Is that like a kama sutra reference?

"Eternal" sex is a biological impossibility, it takes a minimum of 15-20 minutes between one hump session and the other, unless your name is Greg Centauro.

It it spossible to do 2 to 3 hump sessions with almost no break, even for a man, if you have the right girl (but even if you're "allone"...).

The right girl is the critical aspect. Do three on a boring sunday morning and you have used your sex contingent for the rest of the week.

Not valid for every human. Some people need it more often, and some not at all, at least not for a period of time (just look at me).

Because someone can't do certain things does not mean that nobody else can't do it too. And sex is far more a head-thing (especially acratia) rather than just a physiological matter.

If it would be mostly a head-thing, I shouldn't have it at all. :p

Physical form is not unimportant, if you are at the end of your energy after staring at the ceiling for 10 minutes while your girlfriend does the work, it does not matter what your head makes of it, you can't. And if you have a astronaut grade physical fitness, you can have far more fun with it (my personal opinion) - just like with every other form of physical exercise.

If you are out of breath after playing football for 10 minutes, you will sure not enjoy it as much as if you can still stand upright after 120 minutes.

He's right Moonwalker. I don't mean to offend by this, but it's evident that he speaks from experience, but you, perhaps not so much?

You are correct that not everyone is the same, hell most guys fall asleep after 1 orgasm, I personally wake up and get energized (meanwhile wore my girlfriend out so bad she'd fall asleep before I could even get finished cleaning up sometimes, and if not that soon, then as soon as I got back lol).

However, this isn't a matter of wanting it, and it isn't a matter of mind over matter. This is a matter of physiology. (Just like how all the plumbing works and it's connection to prostate issues.) Even with being a "typical sex crazed guy" (lol) and my g/f being worn out by me in the process normally, we have gon for triples before, but never made it to 4. Certain bits were just too worn out by then. (for both of us lol)

....and let me just say, it wasn't my heart, lungs, or head. ;)

I mean the number of orgasms actually is a head-thing (like acratia too in most cases). It is possible to get an erection within about a minute, just by thinking, and that even after you've had sex the same day already (if you still want). It is not just over after you've had sex that day. You can have it more than one time per day, each day, and that for as long as you like it/need it (unless you are about 50+). This is basically a head-thing (and horniness, yes). The physical part takes place if you have sex, which is not really comparable with sport. You don't need to be a top athlete to have sex each day, or for several hours without a brake. Being exhausted after 10 minutes of playing football does not mean that those persons can't have sex, or only one time per week or so.
