I'm just wondering if there are any newer versions of Orbiter. I saw something about an orbiter2007, but I don't remember where I saw it, and I'm not sure if it was legitimate.

Orbiter 2006 P1 is the most recent one. I've heard stuff floating around about Orbiter 2009, but i'm not positive

well...

Well... their is a new version of orbiter but its in beta so its a bit buggy. It includes better graphics by Martin and another graphic engine being made by Artlav called OGLA. It includes a new coding module for developers and I think the latest beta is orbiter 2008, I think.

Short answer no. The latest stable verision of orbiter is 060929.
Long answer: martins, artlav and many other(sorry I don't remember your names) leading community members have been working on a new version project called Orbiter Visualization Project or OVP.

OVP forum: http://www.orbiter-forum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=50

I do not recomend downloading it if you're just looking to test out the new features, its still buggy but its comeing along nicely.

If you want to beta test, the latest beta is avalable to the public but please provide feedback.

Major Difference In this new version will be the seperation of the graphics and physics engine which will alow OpenGl2.0 and DirectX9, as well as integerated 3D terain, multilight, and a whole slew of other things.

Hope that answered your question.

http://orbitervis.wiki.sourceforge.net/OrbiterPublicBeta This is the page where it can be found and any newer revisions in the future. The latest 09 Beta is actually quite stable for normal usage and many addons do work with it. I've found it more so than 06 edition in my personal opinion.

But be sure to keep an extra directory that is a clean install without any addons of any kind for double checking any bugs you find which should be posted here http://orbiter-forum.com/showthread.php?t=1876. You are more likely to discover bugs and things which are worth reporting if you used it as if it was a stable release.

So the upcoming version is now officially "Orbiter 2009" and no longer "Orbiter - Tuesday edition"?

@ICBM, It's an old joke. Whenever anyone asks when the next version of Orbiter will be released the answer is always "Tuesday".

Martin doesn't announce when the next version will be ready for release. When most of the bugs are worked out and it seems stable then he will release it not a minute before and he never tells the Orbiter community when that will be. You just have to wait and see like the rest of us.

Orbiter 2009

Regarding new Orbiter:I checked out the link that SlyCoopersButt
posted and it's absolutely fantastic. My black sky is now blue and I can see so many
stars. DG seems to have more power.

Question: Does anybody know how I can create a HUD in Super Mellinium Falcon's virtual cockpit?

My black sky is now blue and I can see so many
stars.

The number of stars can be adjusted in the launchpad. Read the manual about that.
A black sky is usaly caused by a missing DLL on your system. Search this forum for black sky to find detailed instructions on how to fix this.
