If I understood how RTU works, the Iron Hill scenario (whatever the name is) must have in the end:

BEGIN_RealTime
TIME=same MJD from "ENVIRONMENT" section
END

I did run some tests, and the difference between the environment MJD and the MJD saved in RealTime section is minimal (less than one second). You can simply copy the MJD from environment to RealTime if ultra precision matters. But, if the scn file has this section in the end and the MJD is correct, it has to work.

PS: you must have to activate RealTime module in launchpad.

---------- Post added at 02:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:21 AM ----------

Example: I have a scenario with

BEGIN_ENVIRONMENT
System Sol
Date MJD 56305.8418328994
END_ENVIRONMENT

(...)

BEGIN_RealTime
TIME=56305.841831
END

Both MJDs correspond to Jan 13 2013, 20:12:14 UT. If I open the scenario now, it will accelerate time until now. If I open next year, it will accelerate until next year.

If you have RealTime module activated, Orbiter will put the RealTime section in any scn file you create.

---------- Post added at 02:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:31 AM ----------

Also, the file .../Config/realtime.cfg must have the following:

ACCEL=TRUE

If not, it won't use time acceleration.

I got the last IHP state posted by Felipi and added in the end

BEGIN_RealTime
TIME=56299.1226944559
END
(the same MJD from environment)

It worked very well. But we must be careful to not save a state with focus defined to a ship in LEO or in an orbit close to a massive body: acceleration rates higher than 100x are not recomended in these cases. Look for a vessel in solar orbit or landed befor saving state.

Thanks guys--this works beautifully:thumbup:
This should mean that we are all in synch now, so pilots will not need to post routine updates anymore, unless they change something, like doing an MCC. I mean, if I want to see where Odyssey or Discovery are, I can just pull up the scenario and check without even touching my keyboard. Awesome!:)

This should also fix the glitch with Chronus, though we will need to run some tests on her computers to be sure. We can do it in "simulation", without flying an actual mission;)

Don't know. There seemed to be only the one big drift--I'd say it was probably the old update method we were using. Odyssey's course has held relatively steady (her intercept is down to about 7-8,000 km, and will probably drift into the negative before March, requiring a minor course correction. No big deal;))

A little bit of drift is normal, due to perturbations from the sun and the other planets. It requires small maneuves about once a month. But I'll agree a 1 million kilometer miss is strange. Have SolarLiner keep an eye on it, and it goes that far off again I'll look into it.

Okay, the B-crew will need to start setting up a rough itinerary for our time on mercury. From what I know so far, we will need to work in time for servicing the base, and Tmac has suggested Grunwald pass as one key traverse. Can anyone else add to that list?

Thanks, Bruce;)
Odyssey is now 17 days from Earth, so it's time to start thinking about EOI. Felipi, I'd like you to make a course correction, aiming for a 620 kilometer insertion on March 5.

Discovery is slated to arrive at Mercury about six weeks after that. Her intercept is in the 25,000 kilometer range, which is still in the "Weak" area. SolarLiner, what do you say we schedule the next course correction for Monday, April 1? Mercury is a teeny little thing, so we need to be precise--within 1000 km.

Although the advent of RTU means no more weekly state-posting, pilots still need to be checking on their spacecraft every now and then, and inform your respective commanders (me in Felipi's case, and BJJL in SolarLiner's case;)) if you see any problems.

Everybody keep up the good work:thumbup:

Roger that. I have an intercept for 20 days from now. Hum, I might have to take the last scn ...

IRL, have exams, so yeah, the next week-end I will do one ;)

I'm having a LOT of problems with my computer, so I'm unable to pilot the Odyssey! :(
Can someone control the spacecraft for me during the EOI?

Odyssey course correction completed

Earth encounter MJD 56356.664/5 Mar 2013 15:56 UTC
Closest Approach: 621.9 km
Encounter velocity: 13810 m/s
dV for insertion: 6269 m/s

EOI is next Tuesday (no, I'm serious--it really is Tuesday:)):woohoo:
Unfortunately, I will be at work, and Felipi is having computer problems, so either RickD will have to do it, or someone at Wideawake MCC can do it by remote.

And may I say, gentlemen, that it has been one heck of a journey:cheers:
You guys did an awesome job, and I hope that some of you will sign up for the upcoming Deep Six Project in September:)
