Plus because of the moon's graviational lopsidedness most things don't really like to stay in orbit for long as they keep getting dragged into lower and lower orbits.
No it wouldn't, the tech in Star Wars allows ships to hover over a point on the ground and still be in low orbital altitudes. Meaning they can go up and down without needing to do any normal orbital manouvers
At this point I'm surprised this hasn't been canned multiple times over the nearly two decades this has been in the works.
Maybe I'm just overly cynical but part of me thinks it's going to blow up on the pad or just after launch
