Very cool read and a very professional crew. It's amazing when you think that it didn't look all that bad from an outside observer but it was actually a much more intense situation than "just an engine failure."
Tried levels 4-8, no problems noted.

That's really neat. At first I was just panning around thinking, "so its a panorama of Budapest? That's neat I guess." Then I realized you could zoom in...
Last time I watched the special features, I remember Mrs. Lovell herself saying that she actually did lose her ring in the shower and that it wasn't some cheesy Hollywood scene they made up. Overall I thought the movie was well-done though and really cool that they were able to use the vomit...
I couldn't actually drive down for the launch because I had to work but I was able to watch the countdown on tv then walk outside to see it coming above the trees.
I've had similar slowness with MTX, but I got it installed and updated this morning after 2 days of downloading and gave it a quick run through to test it out. The only thing I did was make sure the folder security options were set to full control and everything worked fine on my Win7 machine.
That could be a problem. I'm running Win7 x64 but I haven't finished installing the game yet because the download is very slow. I'll have to see how it works on 7 once it finishes.
My remark about using flight sim to test data from class was more just to prove the point that a desktop simulator for a home PC isn't going to be 100% real regardless. Heck, even the Level 6 FTDs we use to simulate our Skyhawks have some very noticeable differences from reality. They work very...
Nah, I just wing it when I'm playing sims. I have enough procedures and checklists to remember in real life so I'm just into getting into the air/space and having fun.

Here's where I've watched the last couple launches. Right along Rt 406 across from Sand Point Park. It's about 11 miles from the pad but the view is completely unobstructed since it's right on the river. It can get a bit crowded though so you may have to park and hike a little...
