Solar Conqueror Maiden Voyage The Solar Conqueror began her maiden voyage today, completing a successful departure from low earth orbit. Her trip to Jupiter will take approximately seven and a half months. On the way, her science team will conduct gravity field experiments and study...

FaceTrackNoIR as a free view system

Under "Tracker Source", "Face API" settings, I found that if I set internal filtering to none, there is way less lag time between face movements and screen movements. Then I adjust the curves to give me the movement I like. I like FaceTrackNoIR a lot.

Hey Y'all. Been away for a while. What's new?

Hello everyone. Skookum here. I caught the orbiter bug way back in about 2006 and was quite an avid enthusiast for about three years. Then life happened. I found a new career, got married and had a kid (he's five now). Needless to say, life has been busy and the result was that I drifted away...

General Question Monitor Field of View

It all depends on how much peripheral vision you want to include in the screen image (up to 180 degrees for the human eye). I like to match the FOV to the angle created between the two lines drawn from one of my pupils to the edges of of my screen. That way I know that the image displayed on the...

General Question holding an aoa and bank with aerobrake mfd

The XR manual explains it better but XR vessels are equipped with an attitude hold autopilot that can maintain EITHER the ship's pitch OR angle of attack. You can switch between either one and select precise values for each. Select either mode by pressing the small gray square next to the word...

New Release Shuttle Fleet V4.5 now released

Hmm. Te "Final Approach" scenarios seem to put me about ten miles off the coast of Florida, way too low to do the approach. Suggestions? Great package BTW.

Delta Glider - How could it be built for real?

Perhaps if the fuselage was made from an aerogel core bonded with carbon nanotube film, you might get a structure light enough to make LH2 or other high ISP fuels viable for SSTO. However, not being an engineer, I am of course talking out of my a**.

    Project Universal autopilots

I'd like to see a combined horizontal / vertical launch module integrated into a complete autopilot package, complete with "roll program" for the shuttle. Sounds exciting.

    How do I use NASSP?

From my little experience with NASSP I found out that I have no business in a Saturn V rocket. I have to agree with Urwumpe and say that you need to at least peruse the table of contents in the attached PDF and read the pertinent chapters. As you probably guessed, if one is talking about...

Science Space Elevator: Gravity on Passengers

Yes. There is a very powerful and addictive program on which the members here (myself included) have been hopelessly hooked for some time. Good God! Please help us, we can't stop! "Must...get...to ISS. Must...deliver...cargo...modules. Yes Honey, I'll be to bed soon! Yes, I know it's 2 AM!"...
