The Columbia Hills are located in Gusev crater, an impact crater which looks like a dried up lake about 145 km wide on the southern side of Mars. The hills themselves are about 4 km long and 100 m. high and are now for more then 4 years explored by one of the two Mars Exploration Rovers, MER-A or Spirit, looking for clues of past water activity.
This add-on contains the mesh with the hi-res textures of the Columbia Hills landscape, including Bonneville crater and some details like Home Plate and some scenarios and is an answer to a request in MER-2003 add-on for surrounding landscape. There are also medium-res textures. see readme.txt for instructions.
Extra: special mer-rover.dll adapted for use with Meshland, rolling wheels, steering wheel movement.
The Spirit scenario's requires installation of MER-2003 by Usonian available with this link http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3216 which contains accurate models of the two Martian rovers; needed for the mer-rover.dll.
Recommended but not necessary is Artlavâs Meshland 1.9.2. available with the link http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=1396 to ride up the slopes of the hills.
Also recommended is the gusev-crater mesh from Robert Stettner available at www.avsim.com with the hi-res texture at orbithangar from astrogull.
