Mercury

High-resolution texture downloads for Mercury, for use in Orbiter Space Flight Simulator. Based on imagery from the MDIS instrument onboard the NASA Messenger probe. See the Installation instructions for general installation help. In addition, since the original Orbiter2016 installation used an old-style texture format for Mercury, you also need to replace your <orbiterroot>\Config\Mercury.cfg with this version. And if you install the Label.tree surface feature labels (Orbiter beta only!), you have to copy Label.cfg into <orbiterroot>\Config\Mercury\Label.cfg


Earth

High-resolution texture downloads for Earth, for use in Orbiter Space Flight Simulator. Download the complete Earth texture set via torrent, or individual texture layers via http. See the Installation instructions for installation help.


Addon scenery packs

Below is a list of available addon texture packs which provide local high-resolution support for selected locations. The packs consist of a zip file that should be unpacked directly in the Orbiter root directory (7-zip option "Extract here"). Alternatively, unpack into a temporary directory and copy the contents manually into the Orbiter root folder. Allow overwriting files when prompted. For detailed installation instructions, see the documentation included in the individual packs.


Moon

High-resolution texture downloads for the Moon, for use in Orbiter Space Flight Simulator. Download the complete Moon texture set via torrent, or individual texture layers via http. See the Installation instructions for installation help.


LRO-based elevation data for lunar rocks is available for use in conjunction with the rock rendering and collision feature (currently only available in the Orbiter nightly releases), and can be obtained from here.

Mars

High-resolution texture downloads for Mars, for use in Orbiter Space Flight Simulator. Download the complete Mars texture set via torrent, or individual texture layers via http.

The surface and elevation tiles for this set have been processed from Mars Express HRSC data (level-4) and referenced to the lower-resolution NASA MSG/MOC data. MOC and MOLA data have also been used to fill the gaps in HRSC coverage.

Make sure to read the Installation instructions because some Orbiter configuration parameters must be changed for this dataset to work.

Legacy Texture Packs

The following table contains the original Mars high-resolution texture packs for Orbiter 2016 based on MOC/MOLA/THEMIS data. They have been superseded by the HRSC/MOC datasets in the table above and are only retained for reference.


Titan

New surface textures and elevation data for Titan. Surface textures are based on the Cassini ISS Titan Moasic, updated, amended and restored by Ian Regan. Used by permission from the author. Elevation data are based on Corlies et al. Cassini end of mission data.

To make use of the new Titan textures in Orbiter 2016, create a new folder <orbiterroot>\Textures\Titan\Archive and copy the .tree files downloaded from the list below into it. The configuration must also be updated. Copy this Titan.cfg file into your <orbiterroot>\Config folder, replacing the existing one.


Minor Bodies

The Minor bodies texture package contains high-resolution versions of the surface textures (and elevation data where applicable) for Phobos, Vesta, Io, Europa and Enceladus. Download the complete MinorBodies texture set via torrent or http. See the Installation instructions for installation help.
