Sword Edge is a small lunar outpost located next to Rupes Recta. In French, is it also known as "L'épée dans la Lune", or "The Sword in the Moon".
The outpost of Sword Edge was first founded by French colonists as the temporary outpost called "Le bord de l'épée". It served as a pitstop between larger bases where ships could stop and refuel. Foreign colonists and travellers adopted the translated name of Sword Edge for the outpost, which has since become its official name.
IMPORTANT: The flattening of the base is handled by the D3D9's flat (.flt) system. If it does not work for you, ensure you have the most recent version of the client, and check in the "Visual Effects" tab in the launcher that 'Surface elevation, using' is checked and set on 'linar interpolation'. If it still does not work, go in the "Video" tab and click on the 'Advanced' button. Check on the left of the screen and ensure that 'Tile Archive' is on 'Cache & Archive' and that 'Enable terrain flattening', located at the very bottom left of the window, is checked.
If it doesn't work, then it won't stop you from using this base. You will just have to deal with floating buildings (with some partway underground).
