    Advanced Question Android version

Actually I see a possible application: As I am working on a version of persistent universe for multi-players (OMX, continued from OMP), once a user has oriented his/her vessel to some direction (with 1G-propulsion + other features...), the user disconnects and the vessel keeps flying. It would...

Discussion ChatGPT Can help writing Code for Orbiter

I didn't note this thread earlier! Aaaaah ChatGPT miracles ....... :) I confirm that ChatGPT was of great help to structure my C++ code in OMX (management of thread and TCP connections) AND I also confirm that everything suggested by ChatGPT must be thoroughly tested. For instance, for OMX, I...

Problem ddraw.dll raising an Access Violation exception... sometimes!?!

In my next MFD, I'm getting sometimes (sometimes none after 15+min of tests) an exception raised by ddraw.dll, according to the C++ debugger. My MFD switches automatically from a view to another, from a vessel to another, and moves the camera based on some computation. It doesn't look like other...

Problem Soft touchdown on Phobos ?

That's true. Nevertheless, with OMP/OMX I experienced this nose over tail rotation because of a bad interpretation of "elevations" (which must be reconstructed in the multi-user approach...). Orbiter was assuming a perfect sphere, i.e. a surface well above the terrain. Maybe OO 2024 has the same...

    OHM Hera

After NASA's DART impact, what will ESA's HERA see? Vote! => Will Hera see a crater, a basin, global deformation, or no Dimorphos? https://www.menti.com/al1pigjpqnty and GO HERA! (poll created by the HERA community, hope it's still open)

Science Earth might have had a ring during the Ordovician

to read more about how it works: Formation of Regular Satellites from Ancient Massive Rings in the Solar System in the abstract : "massive rings disappeared [at Uranus and Neptune] to give birth to most of their regular satellites. When the spreading is fast, only one large satellite forms, as...

Science Earth might have had a ring during the Ordovician

(IMHO, AI was only used to illustrate, not to prove anything, of course). Well, as far as I understand and remember recent and on-going studies, ring systems is a same and general rule for planets... and stars, and consequently for moons formation and displacement. We even look at moons of...

    OHM Nex'Orbiter with OMX

Orbiter 2016 => does anybody have (or can create) the symbols file orbiter.pdb for DEBUG with Visual Studio 2019?! I have a non-systematic error (access violation) called always from the same address 0x00513C7C but I can't figure out what is this call. It's due to my modifications but not in my...

Project Bases for the Solar System

So, in your final addon, can you please allow include/exclude the avatars? and remind "non commercial use only" (actually the license is nothing special from a free lib)

Project Bases for the Solar System

nice, nice, nice and the figures provide an excellent scale feeling. But did you take them from a copyrighted library?

very nice, but the valves and pipes look a bit large, aren't they?

Project Bases for the Solar System

My 2-cent: as the graphic engine does not use the same material properties when it draws illuminated and not-illuminated material, maybe alternating sun light & no sun at high speed makes the GPU crazy... but it should be the same problem with the Earth or the Moon (unless Europa's textures are...

Project Bases for the Solar System

I'd vote for a greenhouse => with Jupiter's radiations and under-surface water, it should grow quick and provide potatoes :D The base is getting cosy ;) BTW: if you plan "taxiways" from pads to habs, make sure that the pad number heads toward the taxiway, not opposite, otherwise it's weird.

Project Bases for the Solar System

The various meshes don't look that complicated and I should try after my Phebus' Wheel station... (but I'm not good in textures). I see there's copyright: https://sboterod.artstation.com/contact

Project Bases for the Solar System

Agree, you'd better stick to the initial number of modules. Additionaly, the "tower" on the middle node would better go closer to the pad (to top-left node), with an hemispherical opening (cupola-kind) to also look to Zenith

    Gameplay variety

IMO, crew survivability is a must that is still missing in Orbiter: 1) accelerations / shocks / weightlessness, 2) air, 3) water, 4) food... at least these 4 criteria should be implemented. (personnaly working on it, with a LifeMFD addon)

Yes, @LordCroussette, please keep going with your bases! [...] I only can second that! Hope you'll get many inputs. I'll read your first post more carefully later. Reminder: the Moon Village is a good inspiration in terms of radiation protection, ISRU, local exploration, energy,... Venus...

Discussion Modeling Boats, Ships, and Other Watercraft in Orbiter? Experiments with Hydrostatics and the Touchdown Model

indeed, I experienced that. My guess is that dmping model and wheel/gear animation must be managed separately: you control the motion of the spacecraft from the dampling model, but you draw the contact points (gear...) without changing touchdown points value. At the end of the motion you modify...
