I still enjoy taking a quick spin once around the Earth in the XR2, that never gets old. For me it's getting there and back that's interesting, the stuff that happens in between not so much. Not much of an EVA type. The cabin is just fine.

    Question What are you reading?

No, I never saw that miniseries. I've had my eye on that DVD for a while though. I'll try to find one then. Thanks for posting that video. I did watch the documentary on YouTube Never was an Arrow from 1979. When in the documentary it showed the pics of cutting up the Arrows, that was hard to...

    Who was the best astronaut?

Other than Jose Jimenez, my alternate top choice would be Pete Conrad. My top 4 from the old school would be Conrad, Young, Armstrong, and Lovell. All NAVY, you bet.

Scenario XR2 KSC RWY 15 approach

Scenario starts with the XR2 75km from KSC around 90 degrees off RWY 15 in a supersonic left turn already in progress maintained by positive pitch trim about to drop subsonic. Rolling out of that on the RWY heading sets you up nice on energy to practice a dead stick approach. (Scenario has the...

You guys watch The Walking Dead, same here. I don't watch much TV anymore but that one sure brought me back. The season finale was great.

    Your favorite passenger aircraft!

Yeah it's kind of a shame where grandpas will tell their grandkids, "I remember back in the day when we used to fly supersonic from New York to Paris and had winged re-entry spacecraft." Go figure. BTW I saw Concorde at Oshkosh and that was truly one magnificent bird.

    Question What are you reading?

Rereading my old copy of Piece of Cake by Derek Robinson. A great novel about an RAF fighter squadron from the start of WW2 to the Battle of Britain. One of the best. If you haven't seen the miniseries, I highly recommend it.
