ORBITER-FORUM will be temporarily closed at 2026-07-23 18:00 UTC while we complete some OF maintenance tasks. The amount of downtime is expected to take up to one hour, but probably less.
Spacecraft 3 has been updated to Spacecraft 4. It's backwards compatible.

I'm just bummed that it's not zombies :(
But seriously, at work there is a volunteer list to be sequestered here on site. There's not details, but I've signed up for it.
Also, I'm not getting anything from the "stimulus bill". But it the two parties can't remove their heads from their...
They are considering breaking all of us (maintenance types) into two groups in order for us to work a 14 day on/14 day off rotation (as in stay here at work 24/7 for 2 weeks straight).
What isn't clear to us yet is what will be our disposition during the off time. As in, will we be forced to...
John, I'd like to thank you for all the work you've been putting in to the Shuttle project.
I'm really happy and thankful that I got to beta test some of the really early work. It was a lot of fun.
This thread alone shows how "good enough", isn't good enough.
Given that you're doing all...
Schools here are closed for the rest of March.
At work, our outage had been pushed back 2 weeks (now starting May 8th) and they've cut the duration down (25 days total off line (probable wishful thinking)). If we overrun too far into late June, there might be some managers looking for work.
We can pare down to something like we have on midnight shift. A lot of the paper pushers can work from home, but the maintenance has to be done. Security can't relax at all, they get pretty heavy graded/regulated by the powers that be. Ops has to be staffed at a certain level (by NRC regs)...
When we initially embarked, we had a health survey to complete. Basically "do you have (or were you exposed to someone with) a fever, and other questions similar. I suppose if someone lied on the survey they could be on the hook for something if it were to become rampant on the ship. We also...
I did just get back from vacation (cruise ship to Cozumel and Grand Cayman). The ship was probably only 3/4 capacity, the dining room and theatre are normally packed but were pretty sparse. Spent several hours Friday watching one press conference after another. I'm not a big fan of Andrew...
Wow.... just... wow... :(
The more I think about it I wish Sierra Nevada and SpaceX would have won the contracts. I mean I wish they won to begin with, but I wonder if it would have resulted in better spacecraft overall. Boeing has always been a powerhouse, but they are relying on a tradidtion...
I think the intent of the Starliner was to be "future-realistic(ish)", reading back on the development thread, it seems there were great pains to make the tech, without resorting to magic.
The result is a very slick looking spaceplane, that is something I think could be seen in the skies inside...
I don't know of any books specifically. Sorry.
But craft design (be it aircraft or spacecraft) is generally designed around a specific mission. Do you want atmospheric flight? Do you want a lander? Do you want a cargo-hauler? etc...
Figure out the mission parameters, then start designing...
Those are "baked in" as part of the mesh IIRC. Although it would be kind of neat.
Wait until you fly the XR-2 on October 31st :) we usually get some odd posts right around then.
Lots of (most of) vessels do this. The content creator has to create an interior for the vessel and have a texture for it. The mesh and texture wizard jedi ninjas here on the forum know various ways of creating interiors, but that's they only way I can do it.
I hear tell that there's a way to...
