Gaming The Kerbal Space Program - Version 1.2.x

There is a simple-ish thermal flux model already in KSP. Parts have two parameters: HeatConductivity, which defines how much a part will bleed its own heat into nearby parts, and HeatDissipation, which defines how much a part will radiate heat to the outside. Parts with high conductivity would...

Pic is from last year, but my face still looks pretty much the same: Cheers

Gaming The Kerbal Space Program - Version 1.2.x

Thanks! I'm happy with how they came out, though I would have liked to spend more time on it, tweaking and adding details. As to your question, it should be perfectly possible, since Unity runs on D3D9 itself. The effect is all done by a shader, which renders the flames using multiple passes...

Gaming The Kerbal Space Program - Version 1.2.x

Just a small bump to let everyone know we've just released a new demo version: https://kerbalspaceprogram.com/download.php This demo is based off the latest full release, minus of course, a great deal of content and features. Hopefully it'll give everyone a better idea of what KSP is all about...

    DIY Keyboard Modification for Orbiter

IIRC, the Fly-by-wire mod lets you map simultaneous rotation and translation inputs. :) Cheers

Gaming The Kerbal Space Program - Version 1.2.x

The oceans (and its shaders) are a known performance bottleneck for the game. We do have plans to optimize them here though... Currently, the oceans use the same quadtree mesh system as the terrain, only without any of the terrain deformation bits, so the result is a big sphere. However, there...

Gaming The Kerbal Space Program - Version 1.2.x

We had some DNS issues earlier today, everything should be back up now. :) If it's not, then it's probably your DNS that hasn't updated. It should be back soon. Cheers

Yeah, right now they are. This was just a first implementation of a music system. It's by no means complete. We've got plans to add runtime loading of music files and also to create contextual playlists for specific places/situations around the solar system. Eventually, that is. ;) Cheers

We're having issues with the DNS servers... It's a problem on the web host's side, they're working to fix it. I'm locked out too. :) Cheers

Gaming The Kerbal Space Program - Version 1.2.x

Wow, thanks for that! I'm very happy to see how people understood the intended 'feel' of the game in exactly the way we hoped they would... I think that's one of the most difficult things to design for.. the intended mood that the game is meant to get across. :) About the flight planning...

It is a planned feature. I wanted to add that back in 0.15, when we did the patched conics thing, but we ran out of time. Soon™ though. :) Cheers

Gaming The Kerbal Space Program - Version 1.2.x

That's what we like most about this option. We only really need huge amounts of bandwidth for a couple of days every two months or so. Cloud servers are great for that, because they charge you by how much you use, and they scale automatically. It would be a waste to set up new dedicated...

Gaming The Kerbal Space Program - Version 1.2.x

There are a lot of solutions for the server troubles, and we're already planning implementing them. The problem is, none of the solutions will improve the situation right now. We can only prevent this from happening next time. Before everyone asks "why didn't we do this before then", the plain...

Gaming The Kerbal Space Program - Version 1.2.x

We're going to upgrade our server here, to try and improve the situation as much as possible. However, I think the demand is simply too large for the current system to manage. We are planning a major upgrade to the way downloads are served, which involves using cloud servers. That should be a...

Gaming The Kerbal Space Program - Version 1.2.x

Thanks guys! (and yeah, that xkcd mention was a high point in my geek life ;) ) Sorry about the server going south, again... We're discussing our options here to improve that. If you're having trouble, keep trying. The server gods will eventually smile upon you. Cheers

Heh yeah, the server is feeling the strain again... And this is on a tuesday afternoon, which is one of the slowest times of the week. Well, I can't say that this is bad news. :) Cheers ---------- Post added at 06:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:26 PM ---------- Just wanted to...

Gaming Galactic Divison game development. Need graphic designers!

Luki, as a game developer myself, I would advise you guys to publish something about the game as soon as possible, no matter how unfinished it is. You guys have enough web power to get a site up in a few days. Even if it's just a one-page thing to let people know the project exists, with a few...
