ORBITER-FORUM will be temporarily closed at 2026-07-23 18:00 UTC while we complete some OF maintenance tasks. The amount of downtime is expected to take up to one hour, but probably less.
Yeah, we had to move the site... again. :P
But it's done now, and the forum's back up!
Also, I've managed to get the Strut Connectors working now! Lots of interesting possibilities with them. :D
Cheers
We're doing an update on the KSP site. It'll be down for a while, but it should be back up shortly.
Oh, and good news! I started work on the Strut Connectors, and it seems that's gonna be a whole load of fun! Just gotta figure out how to save the references to cache and to file, and it should...
Thanks! :)
There won't be a native Linux version I'm afraid, but the game does run ok under Wine, albeit with some input problems (some reported the right-mouse button won't work).
So we're adding keys to control the camera, so those running Linux or with broken mice () can still...
Good news everyone! The download count has reached (and passed) the 100,000 mark!
Thank you all for downloading and telling people about it. I reckon that, since OF was the first place to know about the game, the massive repercussion could only have originated from here
Thank you all...
I've made a number of changes to the parachute code. It does work better now, and it's able to deploy automatically when it gets jettisoned away, allowing a safe return of spent boosters and other parts.
This is all in update 0.8.5, which is available now as an Experimental Release (which is...
Hi!
The site is gonna be down for a while today. It seems we were causing a ruckuss with other sites that shared the server () and now the hosting company is moving us to another server where we will have more room.
But that move is likely to take a few hours... and the site will be...
Dear god! according to our download tracker, we are just nearing now on 50,000 downloads!
Just this morning we had topped 30k... that means there are at the very least 20,000 active players right now!
I'm just sitting here, refreshing the report page every 3 seconds or so, and each time there...
Hi again!
I've uploaded a quick hotfix update (0.8.2) to fix some bugs that slipped past us.
Also, yea, the server's having a very tough time right now... in the last 3 days the download count went from 5000 to over 20,000.
On hindsight, I think we should have sprung for the Amazon Cloud...
Imagine a rocket with 3 fuel tanks stacked below the pod, and below that, a tricoupler with 3 engines attached.
Before, fuel wouldn't flow through the tricoupler, now it does.
About external tanks, the idea is to make a new type of decoupler, or some other part, that can transfer fuel from the...
A quick update here:
Today I fixed a potential problem with the symmetry. On parts like the tricoupler, it's possible to use symmetry to build the 3 sides as one, provided, of course, that you're using the 3-sided symmetry mode. So I set up a cfg-defined variable, that lets you define the...
Fuel can flow through tricouplers in the next version, and all other Strut parts. It won't flow through Decouplers though. I think not allowing that adds to the challenge a little.
Now for a proto-update (meaning it's some new idea I want to discuss):
Lately I've been hearing lots of requests...
New update:
Here's what I've been doing today.
* The smoke trail from the engines now fades away when nearing the edge of the atmosphere.
* There is now a framerate cap. set at 300, to keep GPUs from screaming on light scenes.
* I tweaked the sound falloff scale, and now explosions are...
Metallica. (Everything up to S&M, then the band mysteriously disappeared... go figure :P )
Then there are others, like Dream Theater, Ozzy, Iron Maiden, Guns...
I'm a metalhead, as you can probably tell by now ;)
Cheers
Whoa the server's 509! damn!
This means all our effort to prevent, well, just that, have failed...
We have already ordered the unlimited plan from the hosting, but it might take a day or 2 for it to kick in.
About the bugs reported, we're onto them already ;)
Cheers
Hmm I've heard of people having this problem before. That happens when for some reason the data files become corrupted.
I'd suggest reinstalling from the zip file, or redownloading.
Cheers
Edit:
This should make building ships less frustrating:
That's the plan, yes :)
A little update:
Today I finished up the symmetry code for the VAB. There is now a new button in the VAB interface, that let's you cycle through 6 different symmetry modes, for none, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8-sided symmetry.
There is also a new angle-snap option that will snap...
