ORBITER-FORUM will be temporarily closed at 2026-07-23 18:00 UTC while we complete some OF maintenance tasks. The amount of downtime is expected to take up to one hour, but probably less.
@Fast_toche Can you make some adjustments to the blend file for the Akira, specifically with regards to the color of the hull and the reflectiveness of the materials? Both need to be set to levels similar to those seen in the accompanying image in this post.
The saucer section should be at the front of the vessel, which it currently isn't.
Also, as stated earlier, I believe the main hull is supposed to be grey, similar to how it appears in the accompanying image in this post. The reflectiveness of the materials should also presumably be similar...
Good job on the Akira mesh, but you forgot to include the textures. Also, there are a few gaps in the port nacelle, and the mesh itself is facing backwards.
Once you've got the Akira finished, do you think you might have time to work on any of the other vessels? In particular, I'd really like to see the Prometheus and Olympic done eventually, simply because no one else has released those two in any form up to this point.
While you're at it, you...
Now that gattispilot is back from his hiatus, do you think you could continue helping him out with Metletits' 3D models (particularly the Akira and Daedalus)?
While I cannot upload the heightmaps for the Bajor system at the moment due to the site's still-unresolved file size cap, I can provide a few visual previews of some of the planets in the system, showcasing said heightmaps in action.

Lately, I've been doing a bit of practice with regards to the heightmaps, and the results so far are looking pretty good.
I typically start with a greyscale version of the planetary texture and then adjust the color tones accordingly. If the variations in the topography are too extreme, it can...
Even so, I really wanted to use David Metletits' models, because those are the ones Trekkie is using. The screenshots I'm planning to take are intended to resemble what we'll get once he's finished working on them. Some of it is also partially for his benefit as well, since he seemingly doesn't...
If any of you are interested, here's a collection of surface bases located within the Sol system in the Star Trek universe. For certain building meshes, you will require the Relaxation Dome, STPSP: Andor, and Phoenix 2.0 add-ons.
When you do so, you need to retain the original materials rather than just applying a texture over the entire vessel, because otherwise the completed model will bear very little resemblance to the original. What I'm trying to say is that I want the completed models to be as accurate to the...
@Trekkie If you are reading this, do you think you could contribute to this conversation in some way?
If possible, could you maybe provide us with some download links for the spacecraft meshes you've already done?
While you're at it, here are some more Federation structures courtesy of...
@Fast_toche For the next vessel you do, it would probably be a good idea to convert the 3D model to .obj format before turning it into a mesh, if it's possible to do so. At least, I think it would be a good idea.
Also, you need to make sure the textures are optimized for non-D3D9 users.
