    Fly-By-Wire 0.9 Discussion

Redburne, did you think about adding an "electronic" flight controller to your addon? This may add some interesting features, like angular speed RCS controlling (instead of angular acceleration) and real "artifical stability" for aircrafts difficult to control.

General Question Spacecraft3 Vessel as Config Vessel

    No, you should change them to Inertia = 6.94 2.25 6.94 CrossSections = 47.7 20.25 47.7

effect of vortices on an aerofoil lift dynamics behind another one

There's no way to calculate vortice effects explicitly for the moment, and likely there will not be one - as these problems are solved by CFD now. But I can give you some hints: 1.In normal non-stalled flight vortices are produced only on the wing ends and extend very slowly. That means, they...

    Get heading between two points

Orbiter AFAIK does that in Mercator projection, so it gives out loxodrome instead of geodesic curve. That gives an error around the mentioned one-two degrees. EDIT: escapetomsfate actually does the same, so your method will be more precise. If you get rid of singularities, of course.

    interfacing to hyperspace?? how?

No, if it is science fiction. It's called that for a reason ;) On-topic: you may make use of this. <freak to_extent=crazy> Since energy has mass, you can use very high power electromagnetic emission interference to create and support local distortions in spacetime (similar to quantum...

Public Reactions / News coverage of Orion

I have another point of view. Completing such a scaled and ambitious project requires massive funding - that is, massive propaganda (We! The Americans!) will be required to justify such spendings. Consequently, the corresponding news releases will be aired more often than commercials. Of course...

Poll do you think there is life out there

Life - yes. Saucers - no.

    Entropy = Heat = confusion

Enthalpy is the specific internal energy of the substance. It's not specifically linked with heat. The energy of the reaction with enthalpy difference may be input or output by e.g. electromagnetic radiation. Enthropy is measure of quantity of possible system states. If enthropy is increasing...

    Question Feeling microwave radiation

A note: the discussed phenomena is fairly realistic. It takes origins in backgound noise (which is audible, but ignored by human brain) spectre shift when room acoustic configuration changes. But that requires you to be quite used to the common noise picture. You won't be able to tell that...

    Problem TU50/50 suborbital plane

Maybe you'll just want to use AddExhaustStream and DelExhaustStream when transiting these conditions?.. Otherwise, exhausts will appear if one presses and holds the Num0 button.

    Idea Merging Vessels

That's true. Agree. Skipped the word "rotational". Yes. But you can transform the inertia tensor. And I'm almost sure that's what Orbiter is doing when adding it. Unfortunately, there looks to be no way to get results of Orbiter's computations, so what I'm proposing is to recreate it. Sorry...

    Idea Merging Vessels

maybe better to translate it? ;) You can add a mesh with offset: It works, but leaves out non-diagonal inertia components as well. Unfortunately, there's no GetSuperstructureMOI function (refer to GetSuperstructureCG). So, own function will be needed anyways.

    Idea Merging Vessels

Oh yeah, and it can tell the PMI VECTOR3 from any other VECTOR3. Compilers are so smart nowadays :P It will look like this (assuming the axes are similarly aligned for both vessels): #define sqr(x) (x*x) double m1, r1, m2, r2; // Mass and coordinates of the vessels VECTOR3 PMI1, PMI2...

No, Huygens-Steiner theorem is yor friend here.

    Idea Merging Vessels

A direction to develop: don't forget to add up the MOI's. ISS rotating at 100deg/s would look strange.

Maybe just "SetEnableFocus" on all the ships recursively?

Solving Systems of Vector Differential Equations

Yeah, specifically n=3. Cross product is defined for 3-component vectors only.

    Question Alternate history what-if

The Soviets were first to launch the satellite, to perform a manned flight, to reach the moon, to land a probe on the moon. So the questions is "would Americans ever try to send a man there, if not the Soviet program"? The whole program is just a result of a battle of egos. So, if USSR was a...
