    Shuttle FDO MFD

I will . With a bit of patience so far I was able to reproduce the ISS AtoZ from 1A to 12A (basically from STS-88 to STS-114)

    Shuttle FDO MFD

So I finally had some time to practice some Rendezvous with SSU and FDO MFD. So far I have succesfully completed STS-114, STS-121 and STS-115. I am still very far from mastering FDO MFD but Indy's walkthrough was very helpful. In all 3 cases I made it to the ISS though the Ti TIGs were not...

In order to get both GLS and DaveS updates shall we recompile from the Trunk?

    Shuttle FDO MFD

Welcome to the community RamJetFDO! I hope you will not only have the patience to read our questions but also to understand our frustration when we try to do something with FDO MFD and it doesn't really go as expected.. ---------- Post added at 11:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at...

    Shuttle FDO MFD

I think it is due to the distance between the target and the chaser which is not always constantly decreasing. The graph shows that as the chaser passes Apoapsis after the burn the distance on the X axis starts increasing and then it decreades again as it proceeds towards periapsis

News Ethiopian 737 crashed on way to Kenya, 157 people on-board

I think it is a bit early for that. I think the big issue now is to find out exactly what happened and why (and if they were able to retrieve the FDR and CVR they will mot likely find out); the second issue is the negative impact of such events on public image and stock market, I woyld guess.

    Shuttle FDO MFD

Hi Tim, the use of SPEC34 is pretty simple since you feed it with predetermined target values. You can find those targets in the NASA FDF Rendezvous checklist (or in my checklist customized for SSU that you can find here SSU Checklists R1.0 look ant the RENDEZVOUS CHECKLIST page 8 and onwards)...

    Shuttle FDO MFD

Thanks for your efforts Indy. Here are my first impressions: the greatest issue for me is to know what to do and when to do it. In my STS-114 attempt I pretty much followed the steps you highlighted in the STS-126 walkthrough, basically I took my STS-114 plan with the following changes: OMS-2...

    Shuttle FDO MFD

Finally I had some time to practice with FDO MFD. First I ran the STS-126 following the tutorial and since the mission ran quite ok I decided to try with my own STS-114 scenario. I used the same initial plan as for STS-126 with some tweaking, Non spherical OFF and ISS TLE updated for launch date...

News Ethiopian 737 crashed on way to Kenya, 157 people on-board

Automation is a double edge weapon. The more you have the less the chances to get task saturated and make mistakes. On the other hand complacency and confirmation bias are around the corner as well as a decrease in awarness. Some of the incidents and accidents on Airbus machines clearly show the...

News Ethiopian 737 crashed on way to Kenya, 157 people on-board

Pardon me, you are absolutely right; it is a trim intervention. The big issue here IMO is the lack of crew awarness in regards to this new feature (despite there is actually a chrcklist for a runaway stabilizer condition)

News Ethiopian 737 crashed on way to Kenya, 157 people on-board

It’s not thet simple. The system is designed to kick in even if the autopilot is disconnected. Basically when it senses that the airplane’s airspeed is too low it generates a pushdown force on the yoke to lower the nose and avoid potential stall. In order to disable the system you need to...

Could you give some details of this unique system? AFAIK the whole MAX “family” has the same exact system (like the NG family: -700/-800/-900 have the same platform) ---------- Post added 03-11-19 at 10:37 AM ---------- Previous post was 03-10-19 at 10:02 PM ---------- It looks like the crew...

News Ethiopian 737 crashed on way to Kenya, 157 people on-board

It's the second 737-800 MAX (after the Lion Air one) let's see what the investigation report will come up with; really hope the two accidents are not related.
