SSU Development thread (4.0 to 5.0) [DEVELOPMENT HALTED DUE TIME REQUIREMENTS!]

May I ask some good soul (maybe Donamy...) to fix the orbiter mesh issues once and for all? I ve just finished the new vertical stabilizer and rudder/speedbrake textures (it was a real PIA) and also worked on the nose (which has recently been remapped aswel). I am about to release the new hires...

SSU Development thread (4.0 to 5.0) [DEVELOPMENT HALTED DUE TIME REQUIREMENTS!]

I think there are still some issues with the latest mesh. 1) There is an area located on the upper wing close to the leading edge where the texture looks wrong. This is difficult to detect when viewing Atlantis/Discovery or Endeavour but it is quite evident looking at Columbia and Challenger...

    Project Gmat integration

I am sorry I can’t help you but IMO this would be a very nice addon to have in Orbiter

    Problem SSU install on Orbiter2016

That is the same error message I had initially. Did you read the posts above in this thread? I followed DaveS advise and everything was ok then.

    Gaming Digital Combat Simulator Thread

I am new to DCS but I read a lot complains about AI behaviour in the game. Could this be the “cure” for a realistic dogfight in DCS (And maybe for Orbiter missions in the future)?

    Orbiter Screenshot Thread

Are you in touch with the guys at Heatblur? If so you could ask them if Jester would be available to join NASA at Orbiter HQ and fly some Shuttle mission

    Orbiter Screenshot Thread

The screenshot resolution makes it difficult to read but looking at the wing name it looks like you’ve added a 6th Shuttle to your fleet: Mass???a

SSU Development thread (4.0 to 5.0) [DEVELOPMENT HALTED DUE TIME REQUIREMENTS!]

Ok, the glossy SSU was due to a bad install of the latest D3D9 GC revision (fixed now) As far as the C3 panel issue I think it might be related with something at my end since I have also some weird visual effect on the SRBs sometimes (dependin on the lighting conditions). I'll post some pics later

Only C3 is affected. How can I revert back to 3018?

SSU Development thread (4.0 to 5.0) [DEVELOPMENT HALTED DUE TIME REQUIREMENTS!]

Thanks for the nice keypad update  I just updated to the new revision and noticed 2 things: I now have a "super glossy" orbiter and the C3 panel shows random shadows on its surface  Could this come from Rev 3013 (light emitter visibility)?...

News Ethiopian 737 crashed on way to Kenya, 157 people on-board

At this stage it wouldn’t be reasonable to say this. I think we need to wait til the final report will come out since there are still questions that need to be answered on what exatly happened. And usually there are different contributing factors in aviaton accidents and there also relationships...

News Ethiopian 737 crashed on way to Kenya, 157 people on-board

Just a side note about your questions on why they bothered selecting altitudes and headings in the MCP during such a mess. These actions are not only commands for the autoflight system, they also give inputs to the pilot for his altitude and heading ajdustments while he is flying manually (the...

News Ethiopian 737 crashed on way to Kenya, 157 people on-board

Unfortunately the preliminary report of the ethiopian AIIB is not very clear about the pilots actions on the stab trim system. The report says the FIrst Officer called “stab trim cotuot” twice (action to disconnect the 2 electrical stab trim systems) and states the pilots correctly followed the...

SSU Development thread (4.0 to 5.0) [DEVELOPMENT HALTED DUE TIME REQUIREMENTS!]

I have another question on the vertical stabilizer. As I was adding some textures details I noticed another potential mismatching in the rudder "shaft" (the black metal part where it hinges to the stabilizer). Basically the shaft seems to have a conical shape where the bottom part is smaller...

SSU Development thread (4.0 to 5.0) [DEVELOPMENT HALTED DUE TIME REQUIREMENTS!]

So after putting my HiRes textures to sleep for almost a year and hoping the current mesh will not be subject to any further change I started updating them. I am currently working on Columbia and I might have catched a glitch in the rudder mapping. There is a kind of a cut running from top to...

Thanks for investigating this. What would happen if we saved the scenario after APU shutdown? Would the aerosurfaces stay in the neutral position?

News Ethiopian 737 crashed on way to Kenya, 157 people on-board

That is correct but pray you will never have to downgrade to Manual reversion as the airplane controllability is definetly marginal in that situation: the forces you need apply on the yoke are HUGE and the response from the flight controls surfaces are quite messy (including a huge lag in...
