ORBITER-FORUM will be temporarily closed at 2026-07-23 18:00 UTC while we complete some OF maintenance tasks. The amount of downtime is expected to take up to one hour, but probably less.
I don't know what will happen -- haven't gotten any replies yet. I suspect that the problem is with Multistage2 because it is pretty old (by Orbiter standards). Perhaps Orbiter is using some new 3D graphics standard for rendering the meshes. But I am in way over my head when it comes to...
If I understand your question, I think the answer is "No." As far as I know, all Multistage vessel meshes will be oriented the same way -- all meshes having Z+ axis facing forward, and Y+ axis facing up. And when Multistage "spawns" a new vessel, by staging or jettisoning, the new vessel will...
The workaround would be to open the mesh file with a text editor and "saveas" BP101-copy.msh (or whatever distinctive name you care to give it). Then edit your MS2 .ini file accordingly: MeshName="burchismo\BP101" in PAYLOAD_2, and MeshName="burchismo\BP101-copy" in PAYLOAD_3.
The PAYLOAD...
Can't crank up Orbiter here at work, but I will check this out this evening. Try this: Change focus to the Logistics Module, cylce through the attachment points and verify that all the points are FREE. On page 3-1 of the manual, see TRS Pallet and Payload Attach Fittings for instructions that...
I am resonably well convinced that delaying the auto-delete is the solution to the conflict. I am uploading a patched version of the Voyager add-on to Orbithangar. The patch sets auto deletes to begin about 9800 seconds (2-3/4 hours) after launch. This permits a 1-1/2 rev parking orbit, plus...
I posted a bug report on OrbitHanger to warn folks, and give them the tentative fix of deactivating the Mayfly line in the config files.
In thinking it over, I believe the config files for MIRScover, the Titan boosters and shrouds can be left alone -- TransX is never loaded into these vessels...
BrianJ & Zeehound,
I have been playing with this and finally got a scenario saved that consistantly causes a CTD, but mine goes CDT at staging between the Centaur and Propulsion Module. I can correct this scenario's performance with a Quicksave, or by exiting Orbiter then reload the Current...
Sounds like you covered all your bases (don't know how that baseball idiom translates into Dutch). We have not mentioned a fresh Velcro rocket install, but I suppose you have thought of that.
I am running Orbiter while typing, and got a CTD during the staging event, just as you described...
Anyone else having this problem? Have you tried launching with the module loaded, but TransX MFDs turned off? I don't know what difference that would make but it's another variation. Are you working with fresh installs of Orbiter and TransX? Let me know your progress.
**edit**
I just...
This add-on celebrates the 32nd anniversary of the launches of Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 in August and September 1977!
32nd Anniversary?? Well, this is a computer simulation of spacecraft that, for their time, took autonomous computer control to a whole new level. Computers work in base 8...
This add-on celebrates the 32nd anniversary of the launches of Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 in 1977. The Ops Manual includes historical background for the Grand Tour, along with timelines and maps for the planetary flybys.
This is not a TransX tutorial and this add-on is probably not suitable for...
Make sure you have Spacecraft3.dll and Multistage2.dll in the Modules folder, and Stage.cfg in the Config folder, and Spacecraft3.cfg in the Config\Spacecraft folder, and Multisage2.cfg in the Config\Multistage folder.
Since all of your Spacecraft and Multistage addons are crashing I suspect...
I agree. When the next release of Orbiter comes out it would be nice to just sit back and let Martin handle it. But I know I will have to look over my stable of addons and decide which are worth updating and which are not. Older versions of Orbiter are still available on Orbithangar to run...
As I recall, the X-20 was to have wire brush pads (no kidding) that would allow it to land on either paved or unpaved runways, or the Edwards dry lake bed. It was an advance on the X-15 plain skids and nose wheel that could only work on the lake bed with mile-long runouts.
I guess it was...
I am running into a snag with Transx 3.13. It does not want inherit a flight plan from a previous stage. All that that an "heir" vessel receives is the flight plan stages, but none of the data! (Kind of like inheriting a bank account holding only $1 -- not much of an inheritance.) This...
Time to feast on a little crow...
Now that I (nominally) know what I am doing with the calculations, it turns out that BurnTime MFD is showing the accurate figures for Dv, correctly reflecting the added mass of Velcro-attached stages and payloads. My orginal problems amount to pilot error --...
Well, I can give some relief there. BrianJ just sent me a PM pointing out that my calculation was wrong!:embarrassed: I wrote the post form work and mis-remembered the Voyager's mass. The correct Dv will be 281 m/s. A far cry better, but still tight.
Good idea. Seems that Voyager will appeal...
A Chapman-like Challenge
I have some questions that are not strictly related to the Chapman Challenges, but this seems to be the forum thread for high-end discussions of TransX, IMFD and slingshot trajectories, so here goes...
I am working on a new Voyager addon. The spacecraft has sixteen...
Up until 48 hours ago I would have been inclined to say something self-deprecating about my being a "mathlete" medalist in Special Olympics... but I guess Obama beat me to that self-inflicted wound.
Ever since high school I have devoted my life to avoiding any career or activity that would...
