ORBITER-FORUM will be temporarily closed at 2026-07-23 18:00 UTC while we complete some OF maintenance tasks. The amount of downtime is expected to take up to one hour, but probably less.
Very nice! Everything on the NGRST working fine. Thanks (y)
LagrangeLaunchMFD can't find a solution for 30 Oct 2026 (there are many ways of going to L2 halo orbit, but the MFD only knows one ;-) so I made myself a launch scenario for 16 May 2027 (attached below).
Cheers,
Brian
If you are using Orbiter2024, only the latest version 250122 of Falcon9 is compatible.
I vote for 16 May (Dr. Roman's birthday) 2027.
An opportunity for me to see if LagrangeLaunchMFD is useful at all...
....it gives me a liftoff time of 14:21:33 UTC, 43.06 deg.inc.equ. (55.11deg azimuth...
Some more info....
Empty Mass 4059 kg
Fuel Mass 107 kg
(If you give its engines an ISP of 3600 Ns/kg it will have about 94m/s dV . Not much, but maybe enough to correct for the final
L2-halo orbit)
Length 12.7 m
Hi Don :)
I still have the z6034 "cherry picker" and gth1544 "fork lift" (although gth1544 has no textures).
The .dll's still work with Orbiter2016 but slide a bit on slopes.
Sadly, I can't find the Peterbilt truck (I had a lot of fun with that, thinking about "trailer dynamics"!).
I wonder if...
It may well be that I'm having more fun with my virtual "Starship" than Elon is with the real one ;)
Update 250618
Mesh remodelling, upper stage extended to 52m, fins remodelled, etc.
Thrust and propellant mass specs changed to match SpaceX figures.
Stage separation cleaned up.

Hi @gattispilot
you were asking about pointing Skylab +Y at the Sun.
A couple of ideas for you....
1. Does CMG have a "Kill Rot" or "Fixed Attitude" mode? If so, then set attitude as required (nice idea using PursuitMFD to get the P/Y/R angles) and hit the Kill Rot mode.
2. Following bit of...
Quadruple if you count Lunar Trailblazer (apparently now having problems).
Lot of stuff going on at the Moon right now!
IM-2 is an interesting launch:
Lunar lander going direct carrying a drill, a "hopper" and a mini-rover
Lunar orbiter going via Lagrange/WSB trajectory
Prospecting mini-sat...
Hi,
I gave the v.4 a try.
It seems very overpowered - have you got the total thrust assigned to each engine? Take a look at how the main engines are created.
LiftOffTimer launches at T-10s
Cheers,
Brian
Hi,
I reckon so. For the Falcon ASDS, I had to make the deck pretty close to sea level, so its "landable".
Grabbed the v.4 .zip will try asap.
Cheers,
Brian
Hi,
my Norton AV has quarantined .dll's I have made only seconds before. It then proudly informs me of this helpful act.
I leave it to your judgement on the probability of this actually being a threat ;)
Cheers,
Brian
EscaPADE "Blue" orbiter MOI, 04 September 2027.
Launched on NewGlenn (MS2015 version) 16 March 2025
After a 2.5 year journey via Sun-Earth L2 halo orbit and Earth gravity assist + 1800m/s dV DSM, arrived at Mars with 850m/s dV remaining for a 200km x 40,000km orbit :-)
There are restrictions on max fuel reserve. You'll need to increase them.
Look for "fuel_reserve" and SetRF(...) section. Take out the apogee/fuel check in SetRF(..)
Guidance kicks in at 30km alt (iirc) so if it pitches down, youre too steep - pitches up youre too shallow. Experiment.
Yes.
I think the following are redundant, you can delete them.
STG1MAINTH1
STG2MAINTH0
Depends on what fuel reserve you set at launch (on the control panel).
The MS2015 version leaves 112000kg in the 1st stage, you could try that.
You'll be needing to change the initial pitch for the gravity turn...
Launch autopilot not working for me.
The T-10 timer (last figure in the LOTM scenario line) stops after one frame, so you need to look for whats causing that.
Can fire the engine manually but thrust much too low to get off the pad.
Good luck,
Brian
P.S. I got the EscaPADE orbiters ready to go...
