Just to be sure it wasn't related to the XR2 or my own knowledge of using IMFD, I attempted the same flight in Orbiter 2010 with IMFD 5.5 and it worked perfectly.
I then attempted the same flight in Orbiter 2016 with IMFD 5.6 using the default delta glider, but the auto-burn failed again. Here...
I am not sure if this might be a bug with IMFD v5.6 for Orbiter 2016.
I used the delta velocity program for a simple flight in the XR2 from the Earth to the Moon. All went well with the planning and in theory clicking AB should complete the auto-burn. It does in fact orient the vessel and begin...

By chance, I saw a Mars flyby was possible after slinging past Earth in the above scenario. Trip from Earth to Mars took just barely over one month after the Earth sling!

This was from a Neptune parking orbit to Earth. TEI to Earth encounter took 4.2 years.
Oh and naturally there was not enough fuel in the delta glider...I had to manually add more just to finish the TEI burn. :lol:
This is a cool sight. Load this scenario which only has the default delta glider running Orbiter 2010-P1. I was playing around with low flight times back to Earth from Neptune. The scenario begins with Earth just ahead. Watch as it passes below you at an insane speed!
