Gaming FSX coming to Steam, new version later

I wouldn't be too sure. I'm now regularly getting 40+ fps in areas where my computer struggled to run it at 15. Others are reporting similar performance improvements.

    New Orbiter development screenshots

Absolutely INCREDIBLE! You have truly outdone yourself Dr. Schweiger. And not to worry, Orbiter has ALWAYS been worth the wait!

    Science Lockheed Martin Fusion announcement

It makes sense. If the fuel tank for this thing is small enough, you could effectively have a long-range aircraft that doesn't need aerial refueling. Something like that would be very attractive to the military even in just a transport role. Non-stop C-5 flights from the U.S. to anywhere would...

OS WARS MEGA THREAD (Now debating proprietary vs. open-source!)

Actually having a touch screen on a compact device isn't bad when it's in your lap such as on a bus or train. While the idea of a one-size-fits-all OS isn't too terrible, the display functionality is. This is where I think Linux's use of different desktop interfaces is a good idea, whether it...

    Question C# ending thread problem

Ah, I think that's it, Shifty. I closed it while the stream was sending data this time, and it closed correctly. Looks like I'll need to look at other ways of handling the incoming data.

    Question C# ending thread problem

Stop is definitely being set to true, it's actually being set not in the destructor, but in the Form1_FormClosing method. I checked it in the debugger and stop is being set correctly.

    Question C# ending thread problem

I'm working on a simple C# program that can send and receive ORB:Connect information. However, I'm having a small problem with getting my program to exit properly. Currently, it's setup as a Windows Form application, so in order to continuously receive data, I've spun receiving the information...

Rant Mythbusters losing 3 cast members

This season of Mythbuster hasn't really been its best I'm afraid. It started out ok with the Star Wars myths, but it never really felt like the other seasons. I'm hopeful though that with a return to the "basics" we'll get back to that. I'm also hopeful that Kari, Grant, and Tory will be part of...

Who has used or uses the MPCV and LM crafts in Orbiter?

I have, it's been a while, but I'm very interested in the modern vehicles.

Question What kind of car do you drive or wish to own?

Currently: Still a 2008 Ford Edge as I say back in this topic. Wish to: Big ol' pickup truck. Like a Ford F-150, V8, preferably diesel, running boards, and honest-to-goodness trailer hitch, and a big ol' diamond-steel toolbox in the bed!

Bug New addons cant seem to load

Can you post the content of your Orbiter.log file? When you do, please surround the content in {code}{/code} except using brackets instead of braces.

Gaming FSX coming to Steam, new version later

For what it's worth, this is the same company that took over Railworks, which itself is a descendant of Microsoft's Train Simulator. Dovetail is planning a new train simulator based on the Unreal 4 engine. I wonder how related this is to that?

Internet How Star Trek [2009] should have ended.

For me personally, this was nothing more than a generic science fiction flick with Trek-specific names and places. The plot wasn't unique to Trek and can be summed up thusly: bad guy wants revenge, stirs up trouble, good guys pull off a last-second win. There isn't a thing unique to Trek in...

Internet How Star Trek [2009] should have ended.

Ok, first, if you haven't seen JJ Abrams' Star Trek movie, turn back now, there probably will be spoilers. I'll start the rest of this topic a number of lines down to hopefully save anyone who didn't want to be spoiled. Ok, first, why am I posting this here? Simply put, I'm not...

    SDK Question Pulse Laser

Is this a .dll or a Spacecraft3 addon? If the former, then it should be pretty easy to do as Evil Onyx says and generate a new vessel that is the laser bolt. You should also look at giving the created a vessels a lifetime so they don't just sit around cluttering up Orbiter. I can conceptually...

    New Release D3D9Client Development

For the Beta or 2010? For 2010, it usually far exceeds the performance of the inline client, but that is dependent on having the right hardware. For either, the visuals should far exceed dx7.

Gaming Battlefield 3 free via Origin

I may get it just to have an updated FPS game to play once I have a computer actually capable of running it.

New Orbiter Beta Released (r.13, Mar 7, 2015)

What would be really cool on down the road, is if we had some type of in-game, or semi-in-game terrain editing tool. The Train Simulator Railworks works like this, where you can import terrain, then shape it, primarily through elevation increase/decrease tools, inside the game engine, basically...
