This was a group ride the day before Thanksgiving out of the Champions Bike Barn. Eight of us rode ~112 miles and averaged 21 mph. The route also included somewhere in the area of 2,300-2,900 feet of climbing. Great people and great weather made for an awesome day on the bike...
Wow! There's some real idiots there. I've never had anyone move toward the direction I told them I'm passing...well people on bicycles anyway. I've nearly collided with some peds that way. They are the worst! They use up as much space as possible, often walking in the middle of the :censored:ing...
Cheers! The only thing I can think of might be a small cycling computer by Cat Eye. There are other brands, but I have only tried Cat Eye. It was around $50. Gives you current speed, average, max, miles, time. No heart rate data or GPS routing though.
New personal best today, 129.5 miles.

Also a new personal best this week; I've ridden everyday, Sunday still to come. Total time, 19 hours, 8 minutes over 350 miles.
Very cool! I think the GPS barometric readings on the smart phones just don't compare to the dedicated Garmin units, regardless where you store them. The only downside I have seen with the Garmin, which would effect any device using barometric pressure, is during a thunderstorm. If you're out...

The only time I've heard of it losing signal is in heavy trees, but even then it does good. The more you use it, the better it will get at acquiring signals from the best satellites.
Thanks! It is a great motivator and for those of us who can't afford a coach, it allows you to review the data yourself to gauge progress. Segments are also useful for training as you can review time, speed, heart rate, etc. in more detail over portions of your ride. Plus there is the added...
Congrats! Feels good to get a faster time.
I'm proud of my achievement today on the bike. I took 1st place on the biggest climb in all of Houston, the Fred Hartman bridge, which crosses the ship channel. It's around 170 feet, average grade 3.6%, max grade 7.1%. The segment says its 133 feet...
That's a pretty brisk running pace, but very do-able for such a short distance. The pushups would be more difficult for me, never liked them. 51 situps, no problem.
Good luck with the challenge, you can do eet! :)
Ouch!! Sorry to hear about this news mate. I hope you heal up quickly. Broken collar bone is a common cycling break for sure. It's scary to think how you can get hurt doing something you love, but I guess we just have to continue living our life to the fullest. In my case, I could be out of work...
