Hi boogabooga, yes I think this will make it to OHM.
I have been busy implementing the Shuttle-A type hover engines. I wasn't sure if they were really needed but now they are working it makes things so much better.
Hopefully will have a new version posted here tomorrow or more likely Sunday.
Thanks boogabooga.
Yes the sinking was occurring after securing the airship. I have fixed that now.
The ceiling altitude can now be adjusted when adding the lifting gas. The ceiling altitude is displayed after pressing 1 and can be adjust up or down in steps of 100 m using shift 1 or shift 2...
You're absolutely right there boogabooga. I'm surprised I hadn't even thought of that. I'll switch the scenario to Titan.
Was that on Earth or Mars or another planet?
I have probably used the wrong terminology for an airship and missed out the word 'altitude'.
That screen text refers to how...
Added a test version to the end of the first post! Enjoy.
Let me know if there's any problems with it.
A few things I will probably add for Orbit Hanger release:
1. Landing gear
2. A bit more explanation in the documentation
3. Maybe a docking tower and a large hanger for storage
Bug and...
Yes airships are of limited use due to their susceptibility to the weather. It seems hybrid airships go some way to addressing this problem. I think they are still learning how to use and manage these new hybrid airships, like Airlander 10 and Aeroscraft, and so are running into some accidents...
I have been developing a hybrid airship for Orbiter. The design is based on the vehicle seen in the short film Wanderers.
The vessel can be operated as a lighter-than-air or a heavier-than-air vehicle, i.e. the proportion of lift obtained from the lifting gas can be varied. Lift can be also...
I had a play around with UMMU and UCGO. There is some functionality there but obviously needs updating for Orbiter 2016.
As that didn't work I decided to add some atmospheric entry effects to the landers. It was quick to do.
... and some launcher fun
I recompiled the launcher today and that's now working in Orbiter 2016.
I have had problems with launching the MAV for while. It only spawns and docks to the lander, which acts as its launch pad, on terrain that is above "sea level" on Mars.
I think as a...
I've been updating the addon over the last few months and trying it out in Orbiter 2016.
The landers had to be recompiled against the new Orbiter SDK. I am trying out the other components of the addon in Orbiter 2016 as well. I had a quick test drive of the rover today and it seems to work...
It could be the author deactivated his account and so the addons are not available on OH. I couldn't get the links to work either.
I have the addons so I'll try and figure out a way to post them here.
Good question. :) There's many space flight things I'd like to see ...
A moon base
Greenhouses on mars
In situ resource utilisation
Any kind of advanced propulsion
Humans on mars
Robotic exploration with balloons
A space plane
Use of aerocapture
New types atmospheric entry vehicles
Hi, I had a look at the latest development version and it seems I fixed the ctds a while ago but didn't upload it. The habitat lander seems to be working ok but the code for the cargo lander descent routine needs a bit of attention as that's not working properly...I can perhaps upload the...
Hi, if you press zero (not numpad) then that should place whatever is under the launcher on top. I don't think I included an option to have the payload in place when the scenario loads although I will add that option now you mentioned it. Thanks..
Quick update:
I've realised recently the ballistic coefficient of the biconic aeroshell I am using is bit high to reach safe low Mach numbers for the supersonic transition, i.e. Mach 2 instead of the currently Mach 5. So I plan to increase the area defined in the code and also lengthen the...
I have uploaded an updated version for testing on Orbit Hanger Mods. It doesn't show up on the front page of OH as it is an update. Here the link:
DRM1 v1.5 test flights 2
Thanks Iron Rain. I need someone to run through the scenarios and confirm they are working. Also there is a folder of...
ok both habitat and cargo lander can be landed fully automatically with good precision and efficient use of propellant on Mars.
Some moderate effort was required modifying the deorbit autopilot. Coding errors and inadequate algorithms flummoxed me for a while. In the end I only had to change a...
I may skip the tutorial writing for the lander as I have now programmed the autopilot to fly the lander from orbit to within a few metres of the target completely on its own. :)
