    Recent additions to the MoachPit

yeah, i've been at it again.... i was recently presented with the opportunity to acquire a little piece of kit called the "Razer Nostromo" at a bargain cost (i.e. someone flying it in for me purchasing it online) the Nostromo is a massively programmable left-hand keypad for enthusiastic gamers...

Get your software running on the ISS

i think he meant "we" as in "all of our great community", not as in a "me tagging along for the ride" kinda way....

    Project G42-200 StarLiner

i'm afraid little of interesting things have happened in the last few weeks.... you know, real life, as usual, getting in the way  i'm sure i'll find myself with some able time at hand soon enough, 'til then... just thinking up new ideas and trying to keep my head somewhere i can see...

hey there - sorry for the lower-than-desirable attendance lately, real life is getting at it again, you know how it is.... my able time seems to make itself available over some bizarre cycle for some reason... anyways, coordinates for the gear touchdown points are defined by the following...

i usually try to keep it around mach .60~.80... anything more, you get too much drag - so i usually fly this stage mostly as an airliner... i.e. no burners except on takeoff and transitioning to supersonic (between mach .9 and 1.5) you'll find the turbines are very efficient when the burners...

Problem Need help adjusting a PID

whoa - how did i ever miss this thread? maybe it was because i was outta town for most of the last two weeks :hmm: anyways - this is great - i'm gonna try it out first thing once i get home -- if anything, we could work this out cooperatively and have it installed as part of the...

    Project G42-200 StarLiner

hmm, unfortunately that's kinda out of my reach.... those HUD bits showing speed and altitude are drawn by the default HUD function, so while i can easily draw more stuff around it, changing the basic stuff would require doing them all over again (which i don't really feel like doing) :P but...

hmm, ok lets see.... it could be summed up to a matter of total explosion yield versus the percentage of angular coverage imposed by the shield onto the blast.... as in, your blast radius has a 360º^2 angular fallout range - how much of that is covered by the impact shield? if you can...

for the dome lights, yes - a simple point light setup should do the trick.... IF those work in internal meshes, that is..... if not - then i guess we could use some material self-lighting trickery to achieve a similar, but less proper effect then there are the flood lights (dim spots...

well, a fully functional (or mostly so, at least) electricals simulation is planned to be worked on in a near future.... working cockpit lighting settings would be a neat little trick to have - this would be indeed easier if we had access to custom shaders, so i could write up my own little...

Question D3D11 Implementation: Realistic Re-entry effects and Lens Flare

well, yeah... lens flare is a camera artifact, namely from imperfections on the lenses themselves... lenses that do not flare at all have been available since years ago - but many directors will at times choose to go for older, flare-prone lenses in order to exploit the dramatic effect it...

the '42 isn't built for unpowered landings... it's design is based around having enough fuel to land and taxi back, and takes advantage of that to better adapt to operation from standard airports... hence, the triple-boogie main gears are quite bulky and thus create a lot of drag when deployed...

    General Question Texturing Program

i use photoshop for textures - but still rely on Paint.NET to convert them to .dds... the PS .dds exporter and Orbiter don't get along for some reason (go figure) so i recommend Paint.NET for anyone who's going for making textures and doesn't wanna pay oodles for photoshop - it's a very...

    Project G42-200 StarLiner

yep - kinda crude at the moment, but you can move the CoG back and forth with the '-' and '=' keys left of 'backspace' it's not a properly finished aspect of the simulation, tho... it moves in discrete, instantaneous "snaps" rather than slowly as the tanks transfer fuel, which would be more...
