General Question Transfering Orbiter 2016 to laptop

A 2 TB drive seems a bit overkill for a 2.5 GB file, but sure, if you happen to have one lying around, that'll work...

    Advanced Question Random Failures Logic

I'd recommend the following steps: Listen to the orbiter damage simulation flag. Orbiter has actually a global flag to turn on/off damage simulation, but most vessels implementing damage simulation seem to ignore it. Provide the possibility to trigger failure on demand in the scenario, for...

Knowing our arms industry, I think that'll entirely depend on how much they are willing to pay... 🤦‍♂️

Uhm... if the US is that concerned about reverse engineering, how comes they even consider selling to Switzerland? You can't sell anything to switzerland without "us" taking it appart and analysing it to the last nut and bolt, and potentially selling it back to you with the kinks ironed out...

Yeah, I found it well enough, but considering the masterpiece that is the original is right next to it, it's... pointless. Also, why is spike so gloomy? If there's one thing exceptionally noticeable about spikes character, then it's his almost constant smile of bewildered amusement at the world...

Probably not just children, adults can get tooth infections quite easily too, especially considering the state of dental hygiene... But he number under Chrisomes and infants is certainly brutal. It's almost half of the list... I do wonder about the criteria to get "grief" diagnosed as cause of...

According to one poster in the thread, it's scrofula, that is a tubercolosis infection specifically of the lymph nodes. 🤷‍♂️ Honestly, when I read it I had to smile, because it has a more jovial ring to it than "killed themselves". Also, "Planet" must be the most epic cause of death I've ever...

You do not have sufficient privileges to install orbiter

I'm assuming that's the MSI-file? Right click, and look for "run as administrator" in the context menu. If it's not there, I have to assume that you indeed don't have admin priveledges on that computer, and you should talk to somebody that does. Or, yeah, just use the zip file.

Meshing Question Orbiter Scene Graph File to Replace DLL Requirement

It totally sounds like that, except... if something like animation definitions and light source placement could be based on an industry standard that modeling programs support and can export to more or less out of the box, and would have core support or at least be a static lib you could pull...

Meshing Question Orbiter Scene Graph File to Replace DLL Requirement

Unless you plan to write a client, you don't have DX11 in orbiter. Now, I'm not very familiar with the tooling, but I'd guess that DX11 provides a lot of features for that kind of thing out of the box that DX9 doesn't...

Discussion Put Open Orbiter Build Downloads on Orbiter Website

Not much you can mess up. What you do is you make a pull request from your fork to the main repository. This will not affect the code in any way. Merging that request into the code is in the responsibility of the maintainers, who might or might not get around to it anytime soon. But if you make...

Meshing Question Orbiter Scene Graph File to Replace DLL Requirement

The main issue here is feature support. Compared to modern game engines, Orbiters animation support is extremely bare bones, and only a small subset of it could actually be supported at this time. In order to provide scenegraph support, you'll have to implement most of the things on your list...

    Project Lunar SpacePort Base

I'd say it makes things pretty, but that much you probably knew... In more technical terms, Orbiter has an extremely rigorous backend/frontend separation. Essentially, the physics core and the entire graphics engine are two separate processes that talk to each other through... errr... Honestly...

I can't speak outside the electronics industry, but there it's pretty bad. We're currently having 6 months delivery time for bloody SD-cards (industrial grade, though), which basically gets extended by a month every month... Let's not talk about more specialised stuff like microchips. We were...

How much nuclear power does the UK use and is it safe?.

Yeah, that's true of most nuclear powerplants in the world, which is kind of the problem. They have made profit so far, but if they're decommissioned, they suddenly drop into the red...

What music are you listening to?

Ahhhh, Beast in Black. That band with the name that just won't fit. I do wonder if they'll ever show up on eurovision. They'd be a better fit than Lordy but rock the house very competently. Also, that videoclip was hilarious! :ROFLMAO:
