    Project MoonBaseAlpha for 2016

Very nice! Thanks for posting this development version. I took it for a spin round Brighton Beach and it worked well. A minor quibble: Could you please make the cockpit visible only when in the cockpit view, not in the glass cockpit. ( MESHVIS_COCKPIT ) Reason is the cockpits front wall is...

    OHM Falcon9 for Orbiter2016

I made a Zuma sat, as you described, in a 'Payloads' folder. Attached is the scenario. Runs without problems here.

    OHM Falcon9 for Orbiter2016

What payload pack / mission package are you using? I found the Zuma in "SpaceX Mission Package" but - This is for the older Block4 - Zuma:Falcon9_BLOCK4/Payloads/Zuma - It is only the scenario file. A cfg file for the Zuma is also required.

    Project Helios Kick-Stage

Hm, looks I missed to upload the new zip. Now it is uploaded in the first post.

Sorry, the Modules folder was missing. It is now included in the revision Helios-01.zip above.

    OHM Minbari Fleet Vessels

The mass of the Sharlin I took from the pdf, which says 44.4 million metric tons. The shape is quite irregular, so my volume estimation may be way off ... The dv of 290 km/s is not too bright. That is the advantage of TV script writers, who do not have to deal with such minor quibbles. :) But...

    OHM Minbari Fleet Vessels

I played around and updated the calculation to 25% propellant and a density of 350 kg/m³. Also looked at the Sharlin War Cruiser, a capital ship of enormous size! Applied the same rules to this cfg file, so it can be flown and reacts to the RCS. Added a docking port for fun. Yes, the engineref...

    OHM Minbari Fleet Vessels

A nice futuristic fleet! I made a short mass and power calculation based on the figures in the pdf-file, and a modified cfg-file for the NialFighter. Tuned down some values for Orbiter, to keep it playable. If you like, you can have a look on the figures in the attached zip-file. This may be...

    Orbiter Screenshot Thread

These are really cool vehicles! Question: The ground microstructures look somehow stretched. Is this because the screenshots were made in the South polar region?

    General Question Ascent profile help

For a manual ascent, use the 20-30-40 rule. ;) First, in the scenario file, set the heading to the desired azimuth. For an ISS-orbit this would be: HEADING 42.4 Set an MFD to Surface. Launch. At approximately 1 km give the launcher a push, so it starts pitching over in a gravity turn...

    OHM Project Titan Base

I always wished the outer planets and their moons got more attention in Orbiter. Below is a screenshot of the Project_Titan_Base. TIp: Remove the MESH FILE Truss\BaseTrunnions from the config file. It is not included in the addon and crashes any scenario.

    Sun-Synchronous Orbit Around Mars

If you have Orbiter installed, it is in the Doc folder. Assuming your installation folder is called "Orbiter", it is in Orbiter\Doc\Technotes\gravity.pdf

    Project Helios Kick-Stage

The company Impulse Space is developing a 14 ton Methan / LOX kick-stage called Helios. It shall lift a 5 ton payload from LEO to GEO within a day, speeding up the deployment of satellites and saving their on-board fuel. When used on a Falcon9 it can help to retain the booster, thus lowering...

    OHM Titan Dragonfly

Yes, this works fine! No more reentry flames on ascent. Because of its simplicity and effectiveness, this should be a candidate for "Hack of the year!" :) Thinking why the reentry flames were triggered on some launchers, but not on all. Maybe it is a bug in Orbiters memory allocation of...

    OHM Falcon9 for Orbiter2016

This may be a silly question: Can I use the Falcon9 autopilot to launch southwards? I would like to fly a south-easterly course from the Cape, along the coast of Cuba and then make a slight dogleg to the left. This is to minimize the dV for the plane change maneuver required for a geostationary...

    OHM Titan Dragonfly

Out of curiosity I tried the Dragonfly on other launchers. The screenshot below shows it on a Starship. ;) This also triggers the reentry flames during ascent, and the flames remain on until payload jettison. Funny, only the Falcon launchers seem to be immune against this.

    Project MoonBaseAlpha for 2016

To avoid the upside-down landing, the plane of the first 3 touchdown points shall define an upward vector. I think it is like this: Front (centerline), left, right. Against the heading change when landed, you could try to increase the friction (but 3 is already high). What is the mass of your...

    Project MoonBaseAlpha for 2016

These are the touchdown points I used for the Peregrine lander. The lander is quite lightweight (200 kg). If your vessel is heavier, the spring stiffness (here: 1e7) should be higher, otherwise the belly sinks down to the ground. The first 4 points are for touchdown, the last 2 are just for the...
