    Project LR1 Skyhammer: A New Shuttle [p1]

what is your opinion about articulating the fins (basically the fins hinge outboard at the base of the fin after reentry to turn them into wings), also, the speed brakes/elevons would function as drag rudders (ala B-2 bomber) also known as book rudders? for roll and pitch control, the top and...

    Project LR1 Skyhammer: A New Shuttle [p1]

have you considered moving the drop tanks and/or vertical stabilizers? in their present locations, there may be a danger of collision on staging. if you look at the starclipper, the tank(s) are well clear of the vertical stabilizers.

of course, this also begs the question: should we be nice and give him (Justin) a suit or just kick him out in his skin?

Question Rwarp and flying in atmo

you have a point garyw, it is kinda dumb to argue about "physics" that aren't even real isn't it? Please consider the subject dropped on my part.

Question Rwarp and flying in atmo

I have, since the above post, been brushing up on my ST lore, and must rephrase my above post; apparently operating warp drive inside the C.L. does not mean that the above will ALWAYS happen, however doing so apparently measurably shortens the service life of the warp coils and increases the...

Question Rwarp and flying in atmo

Even a star trek style warp drive cannot be activated inside a planet's (or especially a star's) SOI (sphere of influence(the area where the star or planet's gravity field measurably affects the curvature of spacetime)). to do so can burn out your warp coils,(very expensive, and career ending)...

Question Rwarp and flying in atmo

At the speeds you are travelling, hitting the atmosphere ("hitting" is a deliberate word choice here) would be like skydiving without a parachute into a block of concrete. head first. IRL, if you did this you would instantaneously vaporize your ship, if not the earth. at the least, it would...

    Request DG-EX update

In spacecraft propulsion, rocket engines are generally mounted on a pair of gimbals to allow a single engine to vector thrust about both the pitch and yaw axes; or sometimes just one axis is provided per engine. To control roll, twin engines with differential pitch or yaw control signals are...

    Request DG-EX update

1.climb at 30 to 35 meters per second vertical speed (VS) on the surface mfd until you get to 28 to 29 km altitude 2. hold altitude at 28 to 29 km and continue to accelerate until you start to climb even when you are using FULL nose down pitch trim and FULL nose down engine thrust vectoring. 3...

    Request DG-EX update

the easiest way to describe the general flight plan is "fly it like a Boeing 727, not a spaceplane: the thrust to weight ratio is very low, so you have to let your wings do 99% of the vertical work instead of climbing vertically on a column of rocket exhaust. that being said, IMO the dgex...

    Request DG-EX update

the light switches can be found by pressing ctrl + up arrow ---------- Post added at 08:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:23 PM ---------- I like the dgex also; it is EASY to get it into orbit (contrary to what some people think) the trick is, you have to fly it like a jet airliner NOT...

    OHM X-15 Delta V.2.0

Not sure about this because I haven't used this addon for several years, however, IIRC I believe somewhere in the manual it states that the stock titan autopilot cannot handle the extra mass of the x-15 Delta payload and that due to this it is necessary to "hand fly" the LV to orbit. if you can...

    Update Hiperion Deep Space Ship

This vessel kind of reminds me what I think the Jupiter 2 would look like if they made a new tv series or maybe a JJ Abrams movie remake.:tiphat::cheers::hailprobe::cool::salute: P.S.: if anyone hasn't figured it out yet, the ORIGINAL lost in space series is one of my all time favorite...

TransX Moon-Earth Return - Need Help Understanding TransX

I cannot recommend too highly Bruce Irving's (flyingsinger) e-textbook "Go Play In Space" it assumes you know nothing about space travel and goes into not only the "what to do" and "how" but also the "why you do it" aspects. it is widely considered to be required reading for any serious...

    Question Reviving old favorites

I agree with Mr. Goode about the TTM24 Project, this is something we need for orbiter 2k10. Perhaps an expansion as well (more lunar destinations, some form of earth surface to orbit LV(maybe the DGEX with a drop in "personnel module" or maybe just the stock xr2?) Etc.) this has the potential...

    Question Reviving old favorites

IIRC: I believe the Vespucci D was abandoned because the author lost the source files when his computer crashed & burned. this MAY be the one of the reasons the hius interstellar ramjet was created. (Hius-070823-0.5.1.zip)

Keep at it! Maybe you'll figure out a way to pull it off. Remember what Thomas Edison said= "I haven't failed, I have found 10,000 ways that won't work!":tiphat: p.s. maybe a custom .dll or physics module?
