hi everyone. a long time i didnt visit here, but here i am! & i have a mathematical prob... well im an MC player, & there i have to know how many cows in my yard cuze i want to slaughter them & get their leather, so ill could craft some books, item frames, & all around... but i want to grt all the required leather at once, & for that i have to know how many cows there... as any MC players here know, we breeding the cows with wheat. i zfeed them all, & i want to know at which generation there will be enough cows to do the slaughter thing...

the recursive formula for any generation is:
http://latex.codecogs.com/gif.latex...c{a_{n} +\frac{1}{2}((-1)^{a_{n}}-1)}{2}

anyone has a close formula for the cows?

You don't have to do it formulaic. You could just see how many are in each generation based on the fact that you get half as many added as you have.
Gen. | Num.
1 2
2 3
3 4
4 6
5 9
6 13
7 19
8 28
9 42
10 63
11 94
12 141
13 211
14 316
And that should be enough of that...
Expect some losses due to random reasons. (escapes, inability to find mates, cows missing feeding, etc.)

There's more. Baby cows take more than 5 minutes to grow up, but the adults can breed after 5 minutes, so you can breed multiple second generation cows before breeding the third generation.

The amount of leather you get from a single cow also isn't static, so you've got that to consider.

Cows drop 0 to 2 leather, with an average of 1 per cow. With a large number of cows, you can consider the amount of leather equal to the amount of cows.

can you find close elementary formula for the population of the cows?

I don't think that's going to help him much.
Your posts are full of errors in grammar, internet abbreviations, and typos that make it very hard to understand.

Last time I checked, noone was holding cattle just for leather anyways...
Now if you would have asked about goats, I know all about those little buggers by now.

What about New Jersey cows? Are they called Guidows?

BTW there's a relationship between Jersey Cows and spaceflight... See if anyone can get it.

Methane production?

I sense an Orbiter Add-on here, people!

O.K. people here is today's pop quiz question!
Q: How do cows release methane into the atmosphere?
Hint: It's not what you think, try the other end of the cow.
Answer: By Belching! look it up sometime.
