Greetings Orbinauts!
We are pleased to announce the addition of an Article section to our community. The Articles section is an idea we're trying in order to make the wealth of information here more accessible.
http://www.orbiter-forum.com/articles.php
WHAT MAKES AN ARTICLE
As the site grows, older - highly informative threads often get lost among all the newer threads and posts. By moving those old informative threads into one location should allow both new and long-time members alike the ability to find those topics much easier. Any existing threads moved to the Articles section will have a permanent redirect left behind in the forum it was moved from. The actual URL to any threads moved remains the same, but finding it is a little bit different. Instead of locating it in the original forum it was posted in, you would need to visit the Articles page to locate it. On that page you will see the Article categories listed on the top left column. Click on any of them to browse the Articles in that category. The latest Articles posted from all categories will be displayed on the main Article page.
USING THE SEARCH ENGINE
Using the forum search engine to locate topics in the Articles category works the same as it does when searching for topics in all open forums. Anytime you carry out a site wide search, it will give you results from both the regular forums and the articles. If you carry out a search in a specific forum, then you will only get results from that forum just as you would before. If you'd like to search only the articles then you may do this from the Articles main page.
SUBMITTING AN ARTICLE
The main advantage of the Articles section is to hopefully build a collection of super knowledge topics all in one place, but that shouldn't be limited to only old topics. Members may submit new Articles by posting a thread in the 'Submit An Article' forum located near the bottom of the home page. This forum can also be used to suggest an existing thread be moved to the Articles section.
Articles should be well written & well formatted
All submissions require staff approval. When you post a new thread in the 'Submit An Article' forum, only you and staff members can see your submission. If your article is approved then it will be moved into the appropriate article category.
