(Credit to Evil_Onyx for this discovery)So, Evil_Onyx posted the teaser trailer for this in another thread, but this looks like it deserves a dedicated topic. Bohemia Interactive(ARMA, Take On Helicopters, etc.)will apparently be making a simulator about running unmanned Mars missions. It certainly looks very intriguing from what little information is available.

Take On Mars will feature three gameplay modes. Space Program will see you working for a science-driven Space Agency, looking to develop new technology, vehicles and instruments for their Mars exploration missions. Scenarios will offer up individual one-off missions with various objectives set on Mars’ dust bowls. Editor mode will enable you to develop your own goals and objectives.

Wow. I didn't expect the next Take On to be something like this...
It looks like they are using the same engine as Arma 3. If that's the case, maybe we'll see "manned" DLCs or mods...

BIS is certainly stepping out of their comfort zone with this one (which is always good). Very interested to see how it turns out. :)

Looks like it's very new, there isn't even a forum for it yet.

Cheers

Did I get that right that it will only be available on Steam?

Apart from that it seems interesting.

Bought it this morning; tried it out in the 10 spare minutes I had before work; ended up on the surface of Mars and night and could only see stars, no idea what to do. But it looks like it will be fantastic when I get a chance to figure it out.

Most impressive.

Isn't there a free trial thing.

You guys will have to screen shoot your missions, this looks very good. It does offer alot for an orbinaut.

It adds the missing bit from orbiter, ground exploring. I can see how this could get a little addictive.

The Screenshot function of steam has been disabled for this unfortunately.

Run in windowed mode, and use the snipping tool that comes with windows?

Scott Manley made a quick video. I was hoping he would.

3 gigs, eh?

With my wifi that would take about a week to download.

Too bad that seems to be the only way to get it.

Figures; I finally find a game that I actually want...and can't get it.

If anyone hears of a way to get this on a disk, please let us know.

That may happen eventually. But with the game/sim currently very early, very buggy and incomplete, it's pretty important to have updates through a service like Steam.
