This addon does not work for me in Orbiter 2016 - I've been trying, without success, since the initial release. The original scenarios that came bundled with the unit result in a CTD; the new scenarios (in the 'DragonV2Launch2016' directory) give me launch vehicles without capsules on top (or invisible capsules on top).

For the scenarios that result in CTD, the Orbiter log reports:

I have all of the dependencies listed in the DragonV2x.txt file. And, many other addons are working fine in Orbiter 2016 without issue.

Any ideas/advice/suggestions appreciated. I'd like to have something new to fly in Orbiter 2016.

Peace,

cs

Missing meshes: Can you check, if your Spacecraft3 folder is in the location described in the scenario file? And if the Dragon...ini points to the correct Mesh folder?

Thanks for your speedy response. My Spacecraft3.cfg lives here:

Orbiter 2016 \ Config \ spacecraft \ Spacecraft3.cfg

The Dragon...ini says this:

MeshName ="dragonv2x\dragonv2x"

And my dragonv2x.msh lives here:

Orbiter 2016 \ Meshes \ Dragonv2x \ dragonv2x

At least the new scenarios (DragonV2Launch2016) will come up. The ones built originally into the addon cause Orbiter to crash.

Hi,
@francisdrake/perseus - if you do another update, you might want to include the "CONTEXT SpaceX" line in the Environment section of the "Falcon9 to ISS" scenario.

@CurlSnout - have you tried using the default graphics, rather than the D3D9GraphicsClient? Any better?

For the D3D9GraphicsClient, I think you need to do the "Create Symbolic Links" thing(on the Video tab?) - I'm not sure, maybe someone else can clarify my dodgy memory.

Cheers,
Brian

Hello BrianJ,

Thanks for offering guidance.

1) Orbiter 2016 will not load on my computer using the default graphics - I'm restricted to using the D3D9GraphicsClient.

2) I performed the 'Create Symbolic Links' thing early on with Orbiter 2016. So that's been done.

Peace,

cs

ps: I'm happy to report that all of your (BrianJ) addons perform flawlessly and I enjoy them very much. Please make more (and more).

DragonV2x is a ship based on spacecraft3 and its compatibility with orbiter 2016 is limited, I imagine that spacecraft3 is not fully compatible with the D3D9 graphic client, I'm sorry

Thanks; I'm using 'Vinka_full_pack.7z' - which includes:

Config \ spacecraft \ spacecraft.cfg, spacecraft2.cfg, spacecraft3.cfg, spacecraft4.cfg

Modules \ spacecraft2.dll, spacecraft3.dll, spacecraft4.dll

---------- Post added at 05:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:51 AM ----------

ALL IS WELL.

I removed the Orbiter \ Modules \ Server \ Config directory and re-did the 'Create symbolic links' thing on the Advanced Setup dialog for the D3D9Client. Now the canned scenarios work fine and the new scenarios appear with spacecraft intact (i.e., they include capsules on top). I can't explain why they failed to work properly before (or why they work now).

In any case, thanks to everyone who chimed in and offered suggestions. Assistance appreciated.

And, thanks to perseus for a new, fun addon. Keep up the good work!

Peace,

cs

Had the chance to test-fly the updated version today. Very Nice!
The re-textured trunk looks much better now.

I have question regarding the thrusters in Spacecraft3:
The SuperDracos are set as the main engines. They are quite overpowered for orbital maneuvers. Reason is they are rated at full abort thrust, which is ok in case of an abort. But for orbital maneuvers I guess only 2 opposing pods will be used (instead of
all 4 pods), and even then they might be operated at reduced thrust.

Also the normal Dracos for the RCS will probably use 2 pods only.

Would it possible by a switch or something to reduce the thruster power once the critical launch phase has passed?

Maybe, reserve it for use in stationary mode, and land without parachute. See minute 2:25
