Hope you liked the Title :p

Anyway, i've had orbiter for ages now yet 2 things keep eluding me:

1) Ground to spacestaion docking flight
2) Precision Re-Entry onto a target base.

I've been trying to work on point two, and have discovered ar81's atmospheric landing tutorial, and as such have dloaded both basesync and aerobrake MFDs.

What im after is an idiots guide to using both MFDs, and a tutorial that involves taking a DG-S or an XR5 from an ISS type orbit and almost deadstick landing it on a base in the northern territory of WA, around the timbercreek area to be precise.

Anyway, here are the coordinates of the base i'm trying to hit from orbit:

Latitude +130
Longitude -16

Exactly on these coordinates is my base cenrte, so if the space vehicle could enter a basket 2kms altitude, 4kms west and 1.75kms south from this point, that would be awesome.

So to sum it up, i just want a complete idiots guide to precision re-entrys, using the DG or XR5. Both Unpowered Glide approaches, and entry into a specific 'basket' of airspace, to allow powered flight from a given point.

Finally, i'll include the base .cfg file here, its not complete yet, so only use it if you're helping me out.

Cheers,
Cam

1.Undock
2.Lower periapsis barely above 150km
3.When you reach periapsis, lower apoapsis to circularize orbit
4.When you are near 90 degrees from your base (ahead or behind), use BaseSync to align orbit with your base.
5.When you are in the orbit that passes over your base, and you are in the opposite side of the planet, to a deorbit burn using Aerobrake MFD to match impact point and your base.
6.Keep a fixed AoA and adjust impact point during reentry.
7.When your altitude is 15 km and you are on top of your base, disengage any autopilot and fly to the landing point.

Both of those MFDs come with documentation that explains how they work.

Already got that, but it doesn't really explain much. i need a step-by-step guide to the mfds, ar81s tut, and the manuals dont really provide that....

Different vessels require different steps. If I get to find some time I might try to do something about it. But I am not sure about what is the problem you experience during reentry.
