The crucial point is the political acceptability of the risk in the U.K. Hitherto this has been regarded as unacceptable, and it would be no less now than when previously considered. My advice is that the risk is appreciable and should not be accepted.

What about all those rigs in the North Sea?

What about all those rigs in the North Sea?

They don't usually fly over the UK... It is my understanding that the site would be used for polar launches among other things, and while my geography is pretty weak, I do think the island might get in the way... At least that's what I think that's what this is about.
Also, wouldn't there be quite a wind issue on the north sea cost?

I live on the North East Coast, near Blyth, Northumberland. Yes, the prevailing winds are from the West, and their are turbines a few miles out to sea.
So its usually windy! I think the North Sea oil fields are near their end? So maybe the risk of bits falling on them has been judged acceptable.

Depends where you put it in the North Sea of course, but don't think it would go down well if the launch trajectory goes over UK territory.
