Those are some funky looking wings. Would love to know how they came about...

Looks nice :)
I am glad to see that country like Iran (and it is being demonized all over the world)
is doing great science and has its space program..
Unlike my 'democratic/civilized' country- about to join EU and major issue is education about sex in schools, and science is on that level that it is shame to even talk about it.
Way to go Iran! :)

Hm...the aircraft seems to be WAY too small, even compared to light fighters such as the F-5.

Looking at the second picture, for example, the canopy doesn't seem to "fit" neatly on to the airframe, with the line between the two components looking way too rough.

Then there's the fact that some general aviation aircraft have a more complete avionics suite, nevermind the missing HUD.

Even if it was presented as a mock-up, the overall fit and finish looks "rough" even for that.

EDIT: there's some footage that shows the prototype in flight.

The wings are reminiscent of the [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_Bird_of_Prey"]Boeing Bird of Prey[/ame];

It's hard to get a good look on the wings, but it seems to have very little wing area and very thick wings. Also... stationary canards. I don't know what they're thinking...

I wouldn't wanna fly this thing. I bet it's a death trap when landing and poor at trans sonic speeds...

That said, this is a mockup...

Could be a disinformation mockup as much as anything else... Anyway they don't have the resources to produce this kind of hi-tech machines in significant quantities.

So why did they put the intakes on the top of the aircraft? as soon as it gets into any maneuvering its going to have problems with its engine.

I agree with Fabri91 that plane is far to small to have half the equipment needed for it to have the minimum requirements to be called a 5th gen fighter.

"Giovanni de Briganti has defined the defining elements of a fifth generation fighter to be:
Stealth
High maneuverability
Advanced avionics
Networked data fusion from sensors and avionics
Multirole capabilities."

The only one of those i think that aircraft has any chance of filling is the Stealth aspect, but unless much more effort is made, i don't think it will be that stealthy.

In its current state i would call it cannon fodder to any modern aircraft.

Remember that even the much ahead Chinese are only recently flying their own 5th gen. fighter jet(s), and the Russians still can't get an operational model out for service. There's no way the Iranians can build one within the next decade when their most advanced fighter jets are 30+ years old F-14.

I think this is just a way to jab the american media in the eyes. I doubt they have any real intention of actually building this thing.

The pilot will just sit in the cockpit making airplane noises.

Right behind you - don't look!
Well, it's got car radio, CD-player, a couple of scary-looking red switches... It could be a great movie prop. Now we only need Michael Dudikoff to steal it and we have a plot.

For what it's worth, here's a cockpit picture in reasonably high definition:

Nice simpit. For an amateur. :lol:

Notice that the airspeed indicator enter the yellow caution zone at 200 knots :rofl: Taken from a Cessna or such light civilian airplane probably... :lol:

And yes, that's definitively a car radio :facepalm:

Conclusion : simpits enthusiats from this forum would have done much better !

LOL....it doesn't even appear to have a HUD!!!:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Do modern jets still have HUDs? I thought it's all helmet-mounted displays these days (to the point where external cameras provide views from directions obscured by the fuselage)
