Another attempt last night on a bitter cold evening.

I was out this evening, the sky was clear and the Moon almost blinding. I noticed a bright yellow point near it, checked in Orbiter setting the camera on my town and found this thread :p.

Jupiter was very bright. Orbiter (or D3D9) is a bit unrealistic showing the satellites from such a distance, though :

It still amazes me how Orbiter can be used as a super-planetarium, though :p

Mars is reaching the 1st magnitude soon. It should start to become an easier target for any decent telescope. Opposition is next March.

Hello,

I was able to shoot this (rather unclear) picture of Jupiter and most of its moons a few weeks ago. :)
Sorry for the blurryness, it is a Canon 350 camera with a 75-250mm lens.

...autofocusing on Jupiter shouldn't be a problem...

Set manual focus to infinity...

Infinity doesn't work but I was able to manually focus it well enough until I got the least blur possible...
I'm by no means an "expert" in astrophoto, but I just learned about this "Hartmann Mask", which should help in focusing distant objects like these we speak about.
