Sorry for the... nigh incomprehensible title, but I've had an issue. For one reason or another, Orbiter thinks that my [ key is my ] key and therefore I can go prograde autopilot by pressing ] but cannot go retrograde via keyboard at all. Pressing [ has no effect whatsoever.

I'm using an HP Pavillion Dv6 Laptop, on the built-in keyboard. The keyboard language itself is English (UK). I haven't touch the keybinding config at all.

Any idea how this can be fixed? I hope I gave sufficient information.

Thanks in advance,
xp194

Personally, my money's on it being a driver issue or something, but I'm not nearly experienced enough to feel confident mucking around with those without help.

Could you perhaps post keymap.cfg? I know you said you didn't touch it, but to be on the safe side we may as well see it.

This is the laptop with numeric keypad on the right, like for desktop keyboards, right?

Anyway, if it's a problem with keymap.cfg, you can restore it to default by deleting that file. It will get regenerated on the next run of Orbiter.

Im sorry for bumping this but I do have the same issue as this guy. I have an Asus and it does have a numpad set. but the anti-normal and retrograde shortcuts dont work. and its really frustrating

What if you just remap 'NMRetrograde = RBRACKET' to some other key in keymap.cfg, such as backslash?

You could get a USB keyboard.

Bad idea. why get a keyboard where I already have one on my laptop. Anyways I tried changing the keys. it has failed. most likely we need to bring this up to martin because this is really ticking me off and theres no way to tell what the commands are to input on the keybind cfg

EDIT: Indeed this a bug because all of the keys are messed up and orbiter doesnt recognize them

Can you try [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2848"]Keybinder Wizard 1.0[/ame] to help simplify remapping your keys?

check that you don't have your keyboard set to any secondary language in control panel for whatever reason....

living in Brazil, it's a pretty common problem, since we have a different setup for portuguese... (i don't anymore, since i got my g15) but anyways....

the shift+alt combination is the windows default for toggling between alternate input languages (why on earth?), and if such language doesn't match your actual keyboard, you'll get strange key bindings...

it's a pretty common combination to activate by accident.... happens all the time
