Problem Orbiter ctd - possible dgiv problem?

Ok, Im having a ctd issue while running a scenario (long term). There are 7 vessels in the scenario, 4 dgiv, xr2, xr5 and James Cook. The scenario has been running fine while using the xr vessels and jamescook. The problem seems to arise when I use one of the dgiv's. All runs well until I close out the scenario and attempt to restart. here is the scenario file:

I am using a basic (and fairly new) ACER laptop with windows 7. COuld not even BEGIN to tell you more about the machine, but as I said, the problem only seems to arize while I have dgiv's ACTIVE AND IN FLIGHT. While they are on the ground and shut down, the scenario runs just fine.

For some reason I often (maybe each time, don't remember exactly) get CTD when start a scenario in which any Dan's vessel (UMMu, DGIV, cars) has a focus. Recently it became my habit to switch from these vessels to other before exiting, otherwise I would have to edit a scenario manually, giving focus to another vessel.

Just be "in" the James Cook when you exit the scenario?

I had some similar problems about two years ago, but I never found out what caused the CTD.

sigh. Manually changing the focus didn't help.


I even went back to an earlier save point (which was working) and manually edited the scenario to the state where the malfunction occured, changed focus to a different ship before closing. Closed down the scenario and attempted to restart and came up with the same problem.

OK, just tried merely starting up a dgiv in an earlier save, closed out and restarted. Restart successful both while focused on dgiv and while focused on another vessel. Problem appears to only occur while the dgiv is docked to something. Tried editing the ship to docked with the ISS and got same ctd on restart. Help...

What shutdown option do you have selected in the Orbiter Launchpad (Extra->Debugging Options->Orbiter Shutdown options)?

If it's not "Respawn Orbiter process," try changing it to that...

Well, I found a workaround to the problem. I just have to make sure that the DGIV's are not DOCKED to anything when I close down the scenario. This, however, is going to create problems later on in the mission when I start doing interplanetary flight. :(
