I get all kinds of stuff always bouncing around in my head. It gets annoying. I put here.

A weird planet, maybe: Imagine something about the size of Mars. It's covered with a giant liquid sea of whatever you want the sea to be. Now, because of an asteroid impact, some debris is blasted straight into synchronous orbit and coalesces into an object about the size of its parent body. Because of its proximity, the tidal bulges are GIGANTIC and slowly stretch out... into the other objects sphere of influence! A bridge of liquid? Maybe. That would be interesting, that's for sure.

I expect, realistically, an impact with enough energy to split the planet into two equal sized chunks would evaporate most - if not all - of the liquid on the surface. Any liquid that wasn't instantly evaporated (say, on the opposite side of the impact), would likely fly off into space with the atmosphere due to the sudden warps and drop in uniform gravity.
