MCC #9 was performed with no flags.

Due to our high approach speed to the Earth-Moon system, we will begin 12 days of phasing burns to slow our closest approach speed down while maintaining our correct trajectory to arrive at the Lunar Station in 20 days. Phasing burns are usually 5-10 minutes in duration at 1-1.5 g's followed by an hour or 2 of calculations before the next burn is performed. As the burn calculations are very straight forward, we will continue our existing duty cycles during the phasing burns.

On the 12th day, we will have our closest approach to Earth and will perform a 2 hour long burn at 3g's starting a little over 1 hour before closest approach. All 4 crew members will be on the bridge during this burn and return to normal duty cycles after the burn is complete.

After that burn we will continue phasing-type burns of 5-10 minutes in duration during the 36 hour period between closest Earth approach and closest Moon approach.

Currently our initial Lunar Capture Burn (LCB) is planned for about 30 minutes in duration at about 3g's. This will put us into a highly elliptical orbit around the Moon.

One or possibly 2 burns will be required to lower our orbit down to the 100 km circular orbit of the Lunar Station. The primary limitation of these burns is g-forces. With only 20% of our total fuel load on board by the time we reach the elliptical Lunar orbit, g-forces from using all 17 of the EHEs would be well over 20 G's.

All boards green at this time.

The remaining milestones for this mission:
  • T+380 Days Begin Earth-Moon system phasing burns
  • T+392 Days Closest approach to Earth, Earth-Moon system capture burn
  • T+394 Days Initial Lunar orbit insertion burn
  • T+395 Days Arrival at Lunar Station and end of SSTV-01 Mission #2

3 G's isn't all that much actually. Remember, the crew has lived under 1 G the entire mission, so there's none of this Zero G to 3 G issue.
