Coca Cola recepie discovered

It was discovered in an old journal that belonged to one of the pharmacists that originally worked with the company.

The recipe:

Fluid extract of Coca: 3 drams USP
Citric acid: 3 oz
Caffeine: 1 oz
Sugar: 30 (unclear quantity)
Water: 2.5 gal
Lime juice: 2 pints, 1 quart
Vanilla: 1 oz
Caramel: 1.5 oz or more for color

The secret 7X flavor (use 2 oz of flavor to 5 gals syrup):
Alcohol: 8 oz
Orange oil: 20 drops
Lemon oil: 30 drops
Nutmeg oil: 10 drops
Coriander: 5 drops
Neroli: 10 drops
Cinnamon: 10 drops
 
Saw this on the news last night. He didn't discovery the complete recipe and the process in which it's made is just as important as the recipe.
 
Again? Isn't the original recipe discovered every year?

Also, the contents can't fit today anymore. From one of the many empty bottles that pile up around me:

Water, Sugar, Carbon acid, Coloration E 150d (soft-drink caramel), Phosphorus acid, "natural aroma", Caffeine aroma.

Leaves some space for interpretations (The aromas for example, ever heard of a cola plant, that produces natural aroma? ;) ), but such ingredient lists must be accurate inside the EU.

Since 250 ml contain 27g sugar already, there isn't much room left for other non-liquid ingredients.
 
.... and sugar mixed. Works for most commercial soft drinks... (the first word of the first sentence is "Ads")
 
It's been years since I've had soft drinks. Once I realised the sugar and "artificial flavouring" mix, eew. H2O ftw. Soft drinks remind me of things I put in liquid cooled engines.

Exactly...Cola has much in common with the stuff you pour into your sink for cleaning the pipes.

Maybe that is why I like it. :lol:

Jack Daniels? :lol: Mix it with Cola and you have the ultimate aberration what you can produce without violating international chemical arms control treaties.

that could be the reason why coca-cola changed in the last time: since this was discovered they had to change rhe recipe.

I'm not so sure about that. I heard that it is delivered from the US as a gel, which is then mixed locally with water, carbon dioxide, phosphoric acid and other common ingredients. Its different taste came from the local water, sugar and maybe not all local manufacturers add exactly the same amount of these ingredients, but the ""base" taste is the same, since the gel came from two places only. I never bothered to verify this, so this can me a myth :)
 
I've run restaurants before and Coke "syrup" is mixed in the dispenser with carbonated water (local water with CO2 tank) for the drink, nothing special really.

I'm pretty sure the syrup is manufactured locally, based on the box markings. There is a huge F&N plant here.

I'm just going on my physics teacher's experience at a "Coke world" kind of place where you try it from different countries. According to him, some were just awful. XD
 
All I know is that 3rd-world (or even Mexican Cola) is way better than american Cola becuase they use Sugar Cane instead of MSG. :thumbup:

Try leaving a chunk of raw meat in a glass of coca-cola overnight and see what happens. I'll never understand how they got it approved for human consumption.

Not these stories again...

Here's an idea, try letting the same piece of meat in your saliva for a few hours. Or in your gastric acid, for that matter. You know that your saliva or your hydrochloric acid from your stomach has a lower pH than Coca-Cola, right? (meaning it's much more acid, that's why we, mammals, are able to digest the food). And you have this corrosive acid in your mouth and inside you all your life and it's not eating you alive. It's true that Coca-Cola has a lower pH than other drinks, but let's not get hysterical about it, from the moment it enters your mouth, it's get diluted and eventually processed within seconds.

I'm not saying that an excess of Coca-Cola is healthy, but the stories with the raw meat and Coca-Cola always annoyed me since they lack elementary logic.
