News Aeroplane makes emergency landing on Devon beach.

Even more impressive from the beach view. Considering the pilot had to fly toward the cliffs, then a tight turn onto the beach.

Heard of them, never seen one before.

Parasol wing, just as well looking at the landing!

For some reason, this aircraft reminded me of this:

Yes, it looks nothing like it, but the style/era rang a bell somehow. I knew someone was working on a replica in the US. However it went quiet, and I thought it had gone away.

Sadly, the owner was killed on a test flight.

Yeah, that was a sad day. And the NTSB wasn't able to come up with a definitive conclusion, because most of the airframe was destroyed by fire after the crash.

I actually think I've seen the thing up close last summer. I need to look at the pics I've taken to be sure. I was at the sailplane regional championship in Montaigu, France, as "depanneur" for my brother (aka the guy who comes to get you out of the fields when you land out), and this thing comes in to land. I initially thought it was a piper, except it had french army markings and it was apparently really was a vintage plane. Loved that rough sound of the engine, unlike the "clean" ultralights there. Some planes, you could almost stand by them and not be bothered by the sound if they're not revving for take off. But this...you could hear it from across the fields

edit: my bad, doesn't look like the same aircraft. Same class though , probably
