    OHM Universal Autopilots 0.3.1

mission-XR2 from runway to ISS does not exactly work. It takes off just fine, but as soon as it gets to mach one, the AP enters a death roll and flies with all the grace, agility and lift of a penguin carrying a brick. It calls it 'pitching', but a more accurate term would be 'uncontrolled...

    Project D3D11Client Development

There appear to be several conditions under which the client will pick its favorite neon or otherwise excessively bright color and apply it to $entity (tested examples: Entirety of Wideawake International, XR-2 Ravenstar- both addons, so I'll have to do more testing to see if it happens with...

    Project D3D11Client Development

orbiter_ng.exe CTDs every time I try to check the box next to 'D3D11 Client'. Doesn't even get to any part where I would consider checking driver issues.

    Orbiter Screenshot Thread

Sure, all the times I've used that for a solar system planet I've crashed a few seconds later. Even if I go for several thousand kilometers out. All the dV in the world does me no good, and apparently prograde is straight up.

hypothetical hyperspace stuff for that book I mentioned earlier

Note that current plans for the fireball necessitate it not actually being on fire or anything until it hits the target. Ignition would be provided by force of impact, I figure. As for containment, would compressed air be enough (like, not even in a can, just pulled by some force into a sphere...

Bug XR series: APU won't turn on

Hit the key all the way up to 100x. Didn't actually turn on, just said it was powering up. And why does Orbiter think 15:54 is actually 22:54 whenever it uses my system time? It's bright out here, yet every time I load the scenario America is covered by night.

Bug XR series: APU won't turn on

I guess it's possible that I was at that warp setting. I already have unlimited APU fuel, so I guess setting the auto-shutdown to off won't be too bad. Someone remind me what warp .1 is useful for?

hypothetical hyperspace stuff for that book I mentioned earlier

The rest of the thread was spent trying to get me not to use a faster than light system. This doesn't matter now, since I've moved on to 'space is smaller in general' rather than 'light is faster'. But, if you really wanted an answer, the original answer was that the ship emits the rest of the...

Bug XR series: APU won't turn on

I hit the switch. It sits there and claims to be powering up for the next decade. Can't take off because someone attached the hydraulics to something that won't turn on. This has consistently happened in the scenario 'today' (the one that starts with the system date and populated out to mars)...

hypothetical hyperspace stuff for that book I mentioned earlier

Alright. Nitrogen it is, with noble gases being used on spaceships possibly.

hypothetical hyperspace stuff for that book I mentioned earlier

Makes more sense than being able to control the strong and weak nuclear forces, at least. And probably costs less energy. Would it be low energy enough that say, a human's metabolism could power it? Assuming that they are eating an athlete's diet or something like that (high energy and stuff)...

hypothetical hyperspace stuff for that book I mentioned earlier

Nope, it's exactly 5 earth masses. Look down a few posts for how we got 3.5G. And no, they don't look like humans. I can't go into details very much, but they fit in the classification of mammals but have some other interesting features.. Like scales. There is skin beneath that which has hair...

hypothetical hyperspace stuff for that book I mentioned earlier

This species won't, but I can see there being gas bag creatures around. Perhaps the kind that feed on flying photoplankton and other such airborne things. As for the rest of the advice as to the species, I've taken this into consideration and figure it wouldn't be terrible to have them be...

hypothetical hyperspace stuff for that book I mentioned earlier

Hmm, probably right. Perhaps wormholes could link important worlds so that ships with less resources can go through that instead of spending extra time in hyperspace. As for G's, the species that has this technology evolved on a higher gravity world- the mass of the planet is around...

hypothetical hyperspace stuff for that book I mentioned earlier

This sounds much better. I'm still between this and wormholes, acknowledging that making one takes a lot of energy and perhaps a dash of exotic matter. In fact, I was considering having wormholes later be the staple technology for large distances and the other system for relatively short...
